Great restaurant for eating out, lunch or to go. Super friendly staff and they are great if you have kids. Could not be happier with a restaurant. Must try shrimp wonton soup!!!

It's truly unfortunate that the take- out service at this place is horrendous, because the food is soooo good. I usually come here twice a month, as it is on my way home from work. The last 3-4 times, I attempted to call ahead to place my order. Every time, the phone just rang and rang. I understand you're probably busy, but geez. This last time I went there, I was met with a "what do you want?" No greeting, no menu. Luckily, I knew what I wanted. So he rings up my order, but for some reason has to get someone else to take my credit card. That lady walks back and forth past me like I'm not even there, even though the guy kept tapping my receipt on the counter. This was just one of many poor experiences at this place. I may have to find a new Thai BBQ joint.

My boyfriend and I usually go to Natalie Thai across the street if we are in Culver City but we tried out this place tonight. If you are making the decision choose Natalie!! The waitstaff sit at a table in the restaurant taking very loudly and the food was tasteless. We saw two incidents of unhygenic behavior and then they started vacuum cleaning right by our table. We could not get out fast enough.

This place is ridiculous. One of our dishes was extremely salty and they did not want to comp that one dish. My dad tried it first and he asked my mom and I to try it because he wasn't sure if it was actually salty or just him. We both tried it and was absolutely unbearable. We asked them to take it back and didn't want the food anymore. When we were going to pay we realize that they were still charging us. We told them we didn't want to pay the dish because my dad couldn't eat it but they refused until we told them to make it again with less salt. Such a hassle and poor customer service.

I used to have family in Glendale and LOVED the location... then stumbled across this one on Venice the other day and was eager to go back. I recently started avoiding meat so I didn't get a chance to re-try the BBQ chicken (the classic dish) but had some red curry, pad thai, fried rice... it was all just okay. Nothing spectacular, nothing all-that-bad... just okay. The service was attentive enough, though the decor/ambiance was whatevs... I guess that waht you get with chains, right? I still haven't found AWESOME Thai food in the Palms/Venice area, so til we do... maybe this will be one of our regulars?

Came in for lunch when passing by, I'm in the area every other day for work. Not many options for lunch specials, and they are inflexible about switching up options (ex. Switching from yellow curry to green or red curry, or changing from beef to chicken for a dish). Not bad tasting, but probably one of the least tasting Thai spots I've been too, and I eat at a lot of different Thai restaurants, trying a new place every chance I get. But lastly, very mediocre service. The waitress had an air of busyness, not paying me much attention, looking away, quick short answers, the place was not very busy, maybe almost half full. I felt like she couldn't be bothered. I won't be coming back.

The food is great but the service is going down the drain. They intentionally don't pick up the phone to avoid getting orders for pick up. In person, they're so rude.

  • L L.

Placed an order, estimated delivery was 45mins. They call me 30 minutes later (I'm thinking awesome they got here fast) and they inform me they are out of everything I ordered. Ummm... WHAT!?!?!! And why did it take 30 minutes to figure that one out. Needless to say I won't ever attempt to order from them again.

    (1)
  • D D.

2nd time I've ordered for pickup through Eat24, and 2nd time the restaurant got the order wrong and didn't start making the food until I got there. The 2-star rating is on their customer service for this reason. Or maybe it's on the Eat24 app/process -- who the hell knows.

This place SUCKS!!!!!! The dark meat in the combination fried rice was spoiled!! it smelled like wet dog! The waitress was a total weirdo! when we were done eating she just sat at a booth texting and was not friendly at all!! the first guy we had was sweet but he left. The place also stinks like old food and must.. kind of like inside of the McDonalds play place. I felt so sick after I left this place. Sad, really, since I was really excited to eat here since Nat Thai is across the street and totally expensive but at least its good!

Food is good, delivery time was horrible. Took over 2 hours to get here and I'm less than 2 miles away from the place.

Oh love me some Thai BBQ... Let me tell you about this chain. Every location treats the chicken differently. The Glendale location is pretty ace. The Studio City one is an IMPOSTOR as is the one on Hollywood blvd. But this one, down in Venice is legit! That S-1. That's all you need to know. BBQ chicken with shrimp fried rice. Always reliable is that S-1. Except in those fake locations... The Tom Kah Kai (Coconut milk soup) is great as well as any flat rice noodle dish (Rad Nah, Pad See Ew, or Drunken Noodle). Three dishes for less than $30. Leave happy!

Man!! Thai Original BBQ has some great food. I only get take-out on my way home from work every now and then, but the few times that I've been here, I have yet to be disappointed. I've had their Drunken fried rice, BBQ chicken, and Pad Thai. Their fried rice had a different flavor than what majority of Thai restaurants usually have, but overall it was good...I just expected something different. The Thai BBQ Chicken...it was out of this world (definitely 5 stars). And as for the Pad Thai, it was good too; no complaints. I've tried several of the Thai restaurants in the area and/or on the street. And this place is by far the best...even better than the well known, pricier Natalee Thai staring at them across the street.

The bf and I couldnt decide between Natalee Thai and this place for dinner tonight, but decided to try this place since there is the BBQ in their name. For appetizers, we ordered Tom yom goong soup and beef larp. Entree, the bf ordered Salmon Teriyaki and I ordered the Ruby Chicken dinner (cornished hen with stuffed shrimp mixture). The prices are reasonable. The food is ehh. 1. Tom yom goong soup- broth taste lemony and shrimp doesnt taste that fresh. 2. Beef larp- horrible, boiled chopped beef with bland seasoning (or lack thereof) 3. Salmon teriyaki- salmon was grilled. came with a side of rice ( not jasmine) boiled in what tasted like tomato base! tasted like spanish rice! yuckers! came with a side of teriyaki. 4. Ruby Chicken dinner- I thought the cornished hen was pretty good. it was floured and deep fried with stuffed shrimp mixture. the mixture tasted like the inside of a laotian/vietnamese eggroll- (not the chinese floury kind!) Service was OK. One of the worker/relative? was in the adjoining room taking a nap where I can see from my vantage point. The hostess/server chicks were ranting about their latest shopping spree in Thai. They were sweet -high pitchy-voiced girls, but not the restaurant kind of service you would like to expect. I guess, our meal was more on the Latin American cuisine kind and not the flavor of the East like we'd imagine it to be. Luckily, parking on a Tuesday night was doable in the petite parking lot. Next time, I'll sub the spanish rice for Jasmine rice and order only this entree. The beef larp was an epic fail and it hurts me that they messed up a simple dish. The bf is not a picky eater, but mentioned he'll also sub the rice for Jasmine.

Love this place.. Come here all the time.. The only thing i dont like is how poorly their customer service is. My family and i were literally the only customers there and it took them 30mins to help us.. One server was texting in one of the booths another server was just talking up a storm to another employee. Then it took another 45min for my food to come... Food is great. I mean its the only thing worth waiting for.

There's a reason why there are about 10 of these restaurants already open and more to come; good affordable food. I've been going to this restaurant(not this exact one, because this one was built a few years after I first went) for about 15 years now. It's withstood the test of time, which is saying A LOT. Most popular dish is the beef sate. I personally like the BBQ beef ribs, and the hot and spicy soup. Phad Thai could be better, but the food is good enough to keep me as a patron for years to come. Service is good, the people are very friendly and pretty much know my family because of how often we've been there over the years. Definitely not fahncy pahnts; this place is great for large parties and fam lunch/dinners. The lunch menu is a better deal, but dinner isn't so bad either. Parking at this location can be pretty tough, as the parking lot is shared by about 2 or 3 other restaurants, not to mention Natalee Thai accross the way with its enormous lot. But it's definitely worth going to - again and again.

I heard really good things about this place & the yelp reviews were good so we decided to try it, but it was just 'Meh'. With all the Thai food in LA, I think I'll keep searching around.

I come here a few times each month for their lunch special Chicken Pad Thai! One of the better pad thais I've tasted. Great portion and lots of chicken. This plate always leaves me satisfied. And if I'm not too hungry that day, I usually have leftovers for second meal! Also, the lunch special starts off with salad, which is delicious! It comes with this yellow sauce on top. No idea what kind of dressing it is, but I'm assuming its homemade. It kind of has this sweet flavor to it and it basically MAKES the salad! I'm not even a big salad fan, but its YUM! :)

  • Char L.

Good Thai food quick and cheap. The beef pad see ew was delicious - better than the chicken pad see ew. The pad thai was a lil disappointing and flavorless. The pineapple fried rice was good - guess it wasn't pineapple season so it was served on a plate, not in a pineapple, and obviously it was canned pineapples. The drunken chicken had a good kick to it and was very flavorful. That dish was the first to get finished.

  • Joy S.

I always come here for the lunch special, which is around $9 (so around $11 including tips). The portion is decent. I usually get the Thai BBQ or the satay chicken and since the are both very delicious, I always have a hard time deciding. The BBQ chicken is always very tender. I like the BBQ sauce they use, because it's not too greasy, and I don't ever feel like i'm overwhelmed by the sauce. i absolutely love the peanut sauce that comes with the satay chicken. However, one bad thing about the satay chicken is that once the chicken is cold, the meat dries up. However, I still munch on it like chicken jerky with the peanut sauce. They also have one of the best Thai Ice Tea ever.. must get if you are a Thai Ice Tea fan!

Take Out Review. 4 Words: Thai BBQ Spare Ribs. (These are 4 Stars for sure) Quite possibly the most amazing Thai spare ribs I've ever had. The Pad Thai was average - good, but not great. But oh. my. goodness. The Thai BBQ Spare Ribs were so delicious. Tender and perfectly flavored. You didn't even need the sweet and sour dipping sauce, it was delicious enough without it. Sigh, my mouth is watering. Prices are decent for the quality and flavor of the food. Mmm especially the Thai BBQ Spare Ribs...did I mention the Spare Ribs? haha.

Located right across the street from the more expensive, less delightful Natalie Thai. My party ordered their most popular item, the Chicken BBQ. We also ordered garlic shrimp, spicy shrimp, and garlic beef. All of the items were delicious, especially the BBQ chicken! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the waiter gave us some great suggestions and the service was fast. Our glasses were never empty, always making sure that our drinks remained full. Everyone was warm and inviting, a bit of a language barrier (it was difficult to understand what they were asking) but all in all this place rocks!

Their food is pretty good but when I buy curry I always forget to order rice. I have to either cook my own rice or go back and get some. It's one thing to charge me extra for rice. It's another to not ask/suggest it. The rating does not reflect my inability to remember rice... just a tip :-). The prices are decent and it tastes okay. Nothing wow factor. It was close to my friend's apartment so we use to order here a often and various entrees. Pad sew ew is the best thing I've tasted from here.

Killer Beef Pate Dinner with peanut Sauce. Came with 8 skewers on a bed of shrimp fried rice which was also delicious. Drunken noodles were pretty good but just don't compare to the awesome beef pate. Damn want another round. Definitely going back. I believe experience will range with what type of plate you get.

If must try just one thing, DRUNKEN NOODLES w/beef, a spicy blend of vegetables and wide noodles. SOOO GOOOOD!! Satay beef is also very good. You won't be disappointed with these choices.

Oh. Em. Gee. When it comes to Thai food, my heart always belonged to Original Thai in Cerritos. I'd been to countless other Thai joints, and even to other Original Thai's in other cities, but.. I always believed, deep down in my heart, that the Cerritos Original Thai was the best ever. Not that I'm a Thai connoisseur or anything. It's just that the Cerritos Original Thai always makes my taste buds the happiest. I'd driven past this particular Original Thai BBQ tons of times driving to and from the BF's place, but I never really thought to check it out. It wasn't until a few weeks ago that the BF suggested we eat here that I finally stepped inside. Considering how dinky it looks from the outside, the restaurant itself is pretty large. And like all the other Original Thai's that I've been to, this one is dark and moody, as well. I usually don't like dark and moody restaurants (the darkness might be a trick - serving dirty, undercooked food and no one will notice), but surprisingly, this Original Thai is pretty spankin' clean! Me gusta, me gusta! We were seated at a large booth by the door, and... I was surprised to find linen napkins sitting atop the place setting. Interesting. A mini gourmet touch? Whatever. Our placemats were still paper. Hehe. At any rate, I knew what I was going to order even before I walked in. Beef Satay dinner, hold the shrimp on my fried rice. It's what I always order, without question. Yes yes, call me limited - I like to stick to "can't go wrong" dishes. So the waitress takes our order, and she's quite the friendly yet understated one. She could easily have worked at a much higher class restaurant. As usual, I lied about my shrimp issues. I've come to terms with the fact that if I tell people that I simply don't LIKE shrimp, they just don't care. But when I tell them I'm ALLERGIC to shrimp, they actually care, at least a little. So I went ahead and asked her to hold the shrimp on my fried rice, as I had shrimp allergies. No prob, she said with a smile. The BF ordered the Pad See Ew (I think), with a side of fried rice as well. The BF's food came out first. The Pad See Ew was okay. I'm not a huge fan of Thai noodles to begin with, so... yeah. The broccoli pieces were good to munch on, though. Now here's the cool thing. The BF's side of fried rice came out and... honestly, I wasn't even looking at it, as I had fried rice coming out with my order anyway. But as soon as the BF's fried rice was set down on the table, the waitress pointedly looked at me and advised, "Don't eat this fried rice." Excuse me? I thought I heard her wrong. But no, she said it again, this time, with a little more elaboration. "Don't eat this fried rice. It has shrimp in it." LOL! Awesome! I'm sure her warning was more to cover the restaurant's butt more than out of concern for me, but the way she said it, I felt like... she was watching out for me. LOL. It made me go AWWWWW a little inside. Moving on, my food. Bomb diggity as usual! I love my beef satay! I was stuffed to the brim halfway through, as was the BF, and we decided that we should just take the leftovers to go. Expertly, the servers packed it all up for us while we took care of the bill (a paltry $25, I'd say, for the whole shebang)... Talk about a painless dining experience. Oh, and did I mention, the servers NEVER let our water glasses get anywhere less than half full? AWESOME BLOSSOM. I think I like this Original Thai better than the Cerritos one.

The food is excellent. I had the green curry with beef. You have to like spicy food but they have plenty of dishes that aren't as hot. Overall a great meal!

Wow, Im surprised by the high ranking of this place. Beware. Im not a hater and not a push-over for Thai food but Thai BBQ is NOT GOOD. I'll never eat it again. We usually get delivery from Thai Boom also on Venice and we LOVE it, so when they were closed last week for renovation (now open as of Oct 2010) we had to find a substitute (gotta get my thai fix, you see). We ordered Thai BBQ - basic stuff: pad see ew (wide noodles), prik king (spicy green bean) with shrimp, curry with vegetables. It was all wrong. Shrimp overcooked, curry too sweet, prik king no spice, no zest just Blah. Gotta get them some credit - our order came in 10 minutes. But what's the rush?? Thank God Thai Boom is open. It's en route as I write!

For about $30, we got the panang chicken (red curry), pad thai, and spicy chicken coconut soup to share. I asked for the panang to be mild, and it surely was... perhaps overly so. For this reason, I don't know if my initial rating of a 2 is fair and upped it to a 3; perhaps next time I don't go, I would order it as it comes and enjoy its full flavor. But, I'd skip the soup unless you like your lemons and limes in a strange concoction with lovely looking mushrooms; my friend said it was his favorite soup in the world, but I was not a fan. It was very interesting though, and if you're a salty citrus fan, you'll like this soup. As for the pad thai, it was good although a bit sweeter than I'm used to from places like Thai Dishes. Interesting, but not my preference, although together we nearly finished all the food. For the money though, I'd venture elsewhere.

I've ordered delivery from them in the past and the food was very good. The last 2 times I've ordered it was bad and the last time, even worse. The order that was delivered was incorrect. I do not eat chicken and ordered shrimp, yet, I received chicken Pad Thai. The Hawaiian Curry Shrimp was less than 1/2 the amount they usually send and instead of pineapple in the Hawaiian Curry, it had a huge half cooked potato! The shrimp looked like it had been beaten to death. A few of them still had the filth that is supposed to be removed before cooking them. They forgot to clean the shrimp! The white rice looked like it had been dropped on the floor before it was packaged and delivered to my home. When I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager, I was told she was not available. I explained the problems with what was delivered to my home to the woman on the phone. I asked them to come back and get the $22.00 order of "food" they had delivered and return my money- what they delivered was not edible. The woman on the phone did not apologize, tried to make an excuse for how white rice could have dirt on it, did not get the manager, did not send anyone to get the mistake they sent out and they did not refund my credit card. I ended up throwing the food in the trash as it did not look safe to eat. Does anyone know of a decent Thai place I can order from in the Palms / West L.A. / Culver City area?

I have been coming to Thai BBQ for about ten years and love this place. Excellent thai food for great prices. While not as hip as say Natalie Thai (across the street), I think the food is better than most places. I love the Cashew Tofu with brown rice. I've had seasoned vegetarians swear it is the best they've tasted.

The lunch specials here are pretty legit. The thai bbq chicken comes with little 4 or 5 pieces of chicken but it's not that great. I would recommend the pad thai and the pad see ew.

Delicious Casual Dining Experience. Items Ordered: Spicy Chicken Coconut Soup, Hawaiian Curry, Pla-Tod Lard Prik, and a small side of brown rice. Each dish had a variety of well harmonized flavors and spices. Even though I was getting full, I couldn't stop eating because of how tasty the food was. I was very happy with this dining experience.

This place rocks!!! cheap and delicious and the service is 5 star!!! The service rocks and the food is delicious. I recommend their classic Thai BBQ chicken dinner, some shrimp rolls and the drunken noodles. You cant go wrong. Simply put, real good, real cheap, rel friendly.

One of my favorite Thai places to go to in Culver City. I like this place better than Natalee Thai, which is across the street. In my opinion, what Natalee makes up in interior decor, Original Thai BBQ makes up in flavor. We've ordered numerous dishes but the Pad See Ew is always the fave to get. Of course the Thai BBQ is what the restaurant is known for, there are other dishes that are good as well. Just about everything on the menu is good so no complaints here. The only that sucks is that parking can be a pain since the place itself is located in a small strip mall. If anything, there's parking on the street either in front or on the side street next to the restaurant. Service was good, cheap prices, and good food. Another place on our restaurant list within the area. We'll be back.

Writing this review makes me sad, the Thai BBQ in the Valley used to be a staple for me and when I came into the one in Culver City I was quite hopeful. The woman who helped us was so sweet and I thought it was a good sign, but the food was awful. I had the spare ribs which came with some shrimp fried rice. The ribs were good at first, until i realized that they were all fatty and after about the first bite the sweetness of the sauce was killing me. I tried to take a break and eat some of the fried rice but for some reason all of the fried rice tasted oddly like shrimp shell. Not happy. By the time my boyfriend and I left I was feeling really sick and we guessed that they put MSG in their food, because we spent the whole day guzzling water. I wanted to like it, I really did!

I love going to this restaurant, I enjoy their shrimp pad Thai a lot and that 's what I mostly order when I go there. The food comes out quickly which I like, and the Thai Iced tea is great. Great location, lots of parking around the area. The people who work there are super nice and attentive.

This is my favorite Thai place in the world. I've been a regular here for over 10 years and seeing as how I'm only 21, that's quite an accomplishment. I highly recommend the bbq chicken, and the sauce that comes with is like crack liquid crack. (In a good way). Everything I have ever had here is amazing, cheap, and really fast. Highly recommend this place.

What a disappointment!!! I can not find decent Thai in Culver City... WHY?!?!?!? The Sate was chewy & flavorless with a penaut sauce that was runny & hardly peanut-y. The cucumber salad had not tang - was that wate & not vinegar? The rice noodles with beef & broccoli was inedible... the beef was clearly the worst cut available - livery in taste & also chewy. The sauce again had no flavor & glopy. I even tried to add my own at home - nothing helped. Horrible... I guess I am still stuck with Nathalee Thai until a new place arrives in the area. Any suggestions?

Look, I eat here more than I care to admit, because it's 1) on my way home and I've had a lot of late nights at work, and 2) they deliver to my office. And it's totally serviceable Thai food. Total sold 3, an unwavering B. The drunken noodles and pad see ew are MUCH better had in the restaurant, terrible as delivery. I've had every curry and they're fine. Are you going to feel like you'll turn around and see the floating markets of Bangkok? No, because your ass is in Culver City, and you've never been to Thailand and you don't object to a nasty crab rangoon when you've been drinking, so chill out. For the money, you can also get a fancy sandwich or a couple slices of pizza, people make the world go round. Me, I prefer a decent green curry. Meh.

When I'm in the Culver City area and feel the urge for Thai food I try and make it to Thai BBQ. Usually get seated quite fast and the service is great. I tend to order the S8 - Sate Chicken/Beef. What I like about this location is that they let you split the S8 and order half chicken, half beef. I have been to a few other Thai BBQ locations and they do not let you split this order. I really like their cucumber and onion side as well as the peanut sauce.

As a mere Orange County-native in town for a job interview, I stumbled upon this place via my handy-dandy GPS restaurants directory. The food was decent and a safe choice, but given it's location on Venice where the Thai restaurants are plentiful -- part of me thinks I could of made a better choice. And part of me wishes I lived in Los Angeles. Where else in Orange County can you find a street with more than one Thai restaurant? Overall, the food was okay. The service was fast, dependable and cheap. And they didn't seem to mind that my date and I were sticking around way past the completion of our meal. Bonus points, for that!

I had a craving for Thai after a week-long move to Santa Monica and drove all the way back to my old hood in Culver City just for their amazing chicken and addictive sauce. Parking was slightly stressful since the restaurant is on the corner adjacent to several other restaurants (Japanese, Italian, and Brasilian - around the world in a strip mall!) but we ended up finding a spot two blocks away. Two Thai BBQ chicken dinners (one with shrimp fried rice, the other with pork fried rice) came out to about $18 (take-out). The order took less than 20 minutes to prepare without any problems. The restaurant was pretty busy, about 80% full on a Sunday night, but I preferred to take the food home and eat it out of the box amongst many, many, many other boxes (that have yet to be unpacked, argh). The chicken was moist, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned and cooked. This place is CONSISTENTLY good when it comes to their house specials, especially the chicken. The artificially orange-colored cracksauce complimented the meal perfectly, I like pouring the extra cup of sauce all over the rice because it's just that damn good. The fried rice was fluffy and flavorful and the entire meal gave me enough energy to unpack five more boxes before passing out in a happy Thai BBQ chicken-induced coma.

Love the Drunken Noodles with shrimp, so much so that I catch myself saying it at home. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy, and now her friends know i say the odd name of this delish dish! They should just change the establishment's name to DRUNKEN F'N NOODLES! Cause the line would be around the block.. But I digress, the service is always fast and friendly! My biggest problem is that it's almost always empty! I sometimes question why I like it, cause apparently I'm in the minority. I see another fancy pants Thai place down the street that probably kills them, but I keep coming back. I say just get a couple orders take away and enjoy the food at home... saying the words drunken noodles quietly...

I come here for lunch all the time since it's close to work. They have lunch specials plus their prices are generally pretty decent. Get their Drunken Noodles and BBQ Spare ribs..both dishes are really tasty. Also if you do take out, their is a coupon on the menu for a free thai ice tea. Just ask for it and they will give it to you. They usually come with the food super fast, even when it's busy. Service is really good...they are constantly filling up your glass for water. Not sure why there are bad reviews for this place, I've been so many times and it's always been good. Strange...

Updating once again because right after I wrote my last review, the manager immediately contacted me and offered me coupons for my next visit. She was really apologetic and I appreciate that, so this remains my go to spot for after school lunch!

Gosh! i really wanna give this place 5 stars, and if i could, i would give it 4.5 stars. but damnit, i cant! the food there is amazing. i always order the "Pad Thai" or the "Pad See Eww" ( i hope i spelled that right). the noodles are tender and so is the well seasoned chicken. i haven't had the other choices of meat, but im sure that they are fantastic. the atmosphere is chill as well as the servers. the service is laid back. overall, im sure i would return. the only thing holding me back from 5 stars was the parking lot!! eeek!!!

The Thai BBQ chicken was really excellent! Really good smoky bbq flavor along with spicy sweetness. However, the pad see ew was the worst I have ever tasted: the beef was overcooked and the whole dish had a slight burnt flavor to it. One other complaint was that while we were still in the middle of eating, they brought us the bill! However, I will give them kudos for having brown rice as an option.

omg i love the food here. So far ive tried the chiken and beef satee dinner the ruby chicken dinner is my fave and also tried the duck dinner too, also tried the chiken noodles they were absolutely delishous! love this place its awesome! give it 5 stars

I knew we were in trouble when the food came to the table 5 minutes after we ordered it. Pad thai noodles were undercooked, shrimp wasn't fresh, and I felt hungry 20 minutes after eating! I suggested we stop for lunch here because I read good reviews, but it was a mistake! I wish we had tried Natalee Thai across the street instead.

Although Thai Original BBQ is a chain, it's still one of my favorite Thai restaurants to go to. I've been going to a different location ever since I was small but when I moved out to Culver City and accidentally discovered this location, my mind was already made up that I'll be having dinner there later that night. Their BBQ Chicken is a favorite and I can't get enough of the sweet and sour sauce!!

First the service was not good - a little shy of friendly and slow - I had the seafood and it was far from fresh and actually make me a little ill - not my fave!

I just to come here for lunch quite often. Their lunch special are quite delish. I love their BBQ chicken and BBQ pork ribs. They're succulent and well done. The price for those dishes are great. However, I've had their rad na chicken this past weekend and it was meh. They're better than Natalie Thai across the street, I must say.

Decent, Delicious; however, nothing that blew my eyes... I expect something that can blow my eye but....they only blow my wallet.

Thai BBQ, you stole my heart. Honestly people, I love this place a lot. It's kiddy corner to Natalee Thai, where if you're into pretentious, ass holes talking about you in another language for whatever reason, then go there. But if you want great service with food that tastes better, head across the road to Thai BBQ. Again, I moved to Orange County and am so disappointed that they have nothing comparable to Thai BBQ. Their Garlic beef is phenom, the pad thai is crazy good, and it's cheap and easy to pick up. I've never waited longer than 20 minutes to go grab my food. Also, their service is immaculate for a little place like this. Like I said, crap service: Natalee, great service: Thai BBQ.

The hubby and I are regulars here. We always order the seafood combination soup with coconut milk, chicken sate dinner for him and shrimp dinner for me. It never fails to satisfy our hunger and craving for scrumptious, mouthwatering Thai food. Love this place but not everything is good. The Pad Thai was too greasy. The curry was not so tasty. The vegetable saute was not that great. So we just stick to our usual order and we're always happy

Been going to the one in Azusa, CA for the last 20 years... Thought it was a hole in the wall that turned out to be a chain.. But!!!!!!! Still yummy and an absolute favorite. I'd recommend it, but be weary of the customer service... They don't any special emphasis on it.

I am a vegetarian, so finding tasty stuff on the menu is not a problem for me. Most everything we order here we also eat as leftovers (yes, we are cheap!) so considering we are getting two meals for the price of one, it makes us love this place even more! Their delivery service is usually much quicker than they quote, they are open late every night, and we never feel rushed out of the place when we dine in. I've gotten the occasional dirty fork or cloudy glass of water, but that can happen anywhere, and they are quick to fix it. And they sometimes run out of the garden spring rolls, which can be a bummer, but there are still plenty of delicious items to order. The decor is fun, and there is plenty of seating. I have never been made to wait for a table, which is awesome. We also have tried the Thai BBQ in Vegas a few times, and it's always been great, as well. It is safe to say if we spot a Thai BBQ in a town, we will probably give it a shot to compare.

as far as thai food goes in los angeles this place is delish...its nothing special and they dont do one thing particularly well but it will hit he spot especially if you're looking to get a great deal. they're lunch specials are great, in particular the L-1 and the L-8. you know what i'm talking about if you've been there so if your'e looking for something quick and dirty then the OG thai bbq is where you want to be. heck sometimes quick and dirty is just what you need. i mean you cant make love every time right? see you next week L-1.

I like to watch douchebags who come into places like this, thinking they're so witty and charming when they play the "oh, I love Thai; can you teach me how to say (fill in your phrase of choice here) in Thai?" card in the hopes that the perky waitresses will fall victim for their douchebaggery. But tonight, that shit actually worked and a business card was exchanged. So loud and annoyingly arrogant these sons-of-bitches were; I pray that the card she handed was for the restaurant and that the only play they'll get is for an order of crab fried rice to go. BTW, they do a nice tom young soup here.

This restaurant is great. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years now and it still tastes amazing. There has never been a day when we had to wait for a table to sit in, even with a large group. The owner would often also come out to take our order and have small chat with us while we waited for our meals. The soups are also nice, and the noodles and specials are great. The Phad See Eww is my personal favorite, but this place has other great dishes. The quality of the food is also a lot better than other restaurants part of this chain. Only problem I'd have to offer is that the atmosphere feels a bit too quiet and slow so it's not ideal for dates.

Delicious! They have many options for vegetarians, all of which are flavorful. The servers are usually attentive, but if it's busy forget it. I've taken all of my friends there and they loved it too. Many of them have gone back since.

As a Culver City pop with a toddler, I'm always trying to find a good spot for the family. Culver City's starting to fill up with artsy cafes and bistros which simply aren't kid-friendly. This Thai BBQ place keeps a modest vibe and I don't feel like we're intruding on lovebirds or artsy hush-hush when we stroll in with kid in tow. Food is tasty, good priced, and the servers don't leave us hanging. I fell for the hype of Natalee Thai across the street (especially after their modern architectural re-design) but I found their stuff over-rated, and the interior design acoustics literally amplifies conversations from tables 10 feet away but oddly muffles your own. Anyways, not to harp on the competition, but I'm a fan of this local neighborhood joint and will continue to patronize. Typical orders: Pad See Ew with Tofu, Pad Thai, Tom Yum Tofu (great on cold days/nights). Sometimes BBQ chicken and satay can arrive a little dry or overcooked, but everything's seasoned well.

in LA, it seems that starbuck's exists at every corner. on this side of town, there are more thai restaurants than starbuck's. LOL... this is my favorite thai place near me. don't know why people go to natalie thai (right across the street). okay, i guess my gfs go to NT for lychee martinis. but the food is definitely better at thai bbq!! =) their thai bbq pork is SUCCULENT!! comes right off the bone. bbq chicken, lemon grass soup, honey glaze duck, pad see-uw, pad thai...everything is good. pineapple fried rice comes in half a pineapple. this is a nice homey restaurant...great price, friendly service. my friends and i order takeout all the time.

  • Juderay A.

This place is awesome if you want Thai food, and a lot of it. I recommend the chicken fried rice and/or the pad Thai..both are delicious and big portion-wise. The daily specials are also bomb..and they all come with a side of shrimp fried rice.

  • Khadijah O.

The food is delicious. Simply put. The only minus is that parking is sparce and the service staff are a bit scattered. We had two or three people ask to take our order as if no one knew what was going on but I suppose that's better than none. Also my guest asked for no mushrooms in her dish only to find it filled with mushrooms. I get the language barrier thing but if you're going to be serving English speakers you have to be up on your s**t. I ordered the pad see ew and the noodles were fantastic. Would order takeout from this place most definitely but would probably not dine in again.

mmmmm this place is my favorite thai place so far. Since my move to la, i hadn't been able to find a good thai place that could replace banana bay in rowland heights. The service is pretty good, servers are really nice and friendly. Table reservations really aren't necessary. I get the pad see ew or however you spell it and my friend usually gets the pad thai and they're both really really really good. We also get the fried wontons which are delicious :D yummy.

The food was cheap, the curry was good, we found $20 on the way in which made it even more enjoyable. Maybe add some more rice or some veggies to the chicken curry for a little more food but pretty good overall. Given my short time here, probably won't go back. But still decently recommended.

Great place to go. Im sure I will return. Starts with the salad! Outstanding secret sauce! Then came along the chicken angel wings as an excellent appetizer! To finish it off with my mint chicken. Its was pretty tasty as well. But I was getting full by the time that came. The Thai tea was excellent as well. Only con I have was that we had to tell the waiter that we were ready to order. Great place though! I would also go back just for the candy on the counter. Me and my girl robbed them for their candy! HANDFULS! Shhhhhhh!! LOL

I like the name, very simple and mainstream, so im not too apprehensive about trying out this thai place. not like some store sign that is in another language and im wondering "Am i even wanted here?". but thai original bbq is very inviting and familiar. the service is always good--seated right away, waiters take orders, food is delivered, and everything you need to enjoy your meal is on the table or brought to you. the bbq is great. it is very juicy and the thai flavors are wonderful. comes with rice that is very tasty and goes well with the chicken. coupled with some thai ice tea, all makes for enjoyable lunch during the week. easy to fit in an hour during work. you really get a lot of food for the price. it really is a great and delicious bargain.

I live down the street from this Place. theres many a choice to choose from when for looking to order or dine at a thai establishment in Culver city. each have their own specialty. This place happened to be the original natalee thai if you go way back. now its Thai BBq. the food is good , seafood, meats, and side dishes are great. I dine here for its quiet atmosphere on most days, and when I want a less intimate night I run across to Natalee's. 4 stars for food and dining experience. service here is good.

Lesson learned, I will never order from here again. I got my noodle fix by ordering Pad Woon Sen - the glass noodles. Sure they're very generous in portion and meat - however, it lacked veggies and the chicken was a bit dry. The way it was cooked is the same way my mom cooks it when she's making chicken spread - but she lathers mayo & onions for flavoring. This dish lacked flavoring. I even ate some egg shell bits. Oh well. I have been fed & I'm full. I just won't be coming here again. Thanks OG Thai BBQ, you tried, but I've had better.

Lunch Specials for $6.75? SWEET! Given the rough economic times, who doesn't want to be able to eat a meal for 7 bucks? I know I do! My favorite thing to order from Thai BBQ is the Sate Chicken Lunch Special. It comes with 4-5 skewers, 2 delicious dipping sauces, and huge heaping of fried rice (you'll see when you order it). One dipping sauce is a sweet and sour mix with some cucumbers and onions, while the other is your typical peanut sauce. As an appetizer, they offer a salad and a single large cucumber slice with a tasty honey mustard dressing drizzled on top. If you don't like honey mustard, just give it a shot--it's actually quite yummy!

I've been to Thai BBQ 4 times, and I have had take-out from there as well when I was working at Sony. DELICIOUS food!!! I recommend their curries, and their Hawaiian curry (some places call this 'pineapple curry') is SUPER-TASTY! Service has always been prompt, and prices are great considering the quality of the recipes. 5-stars!!!

I get delivery to the point of absurdity from this place. It's consistently great food a amazing speed and friendliness from their drivers. Seriously, i order at least once per week. I'm sure my orders alone pay for their swanky fish tanks.

This place is good. It isn't amazing nor is it awful. I only wish their beef dishes weren't so watery such as the Mongolian beef. this is a good place to go for a quick stop because the cooks are pretty quick. The fried wontons are yummy!

Spicy Seafood Coconut Soup, Tofu Delight, Thai BBQ Spareribs...great trifecta of perfection. Yummo...rubs are falling off the bones and the soup was perfectly balanced. Thai tea was too sweet for my weak sauce friend, Dan.

I walked in this place thinking it was a vegan restaurant. Well that and they have it plastered as vegan Thai on the outside( go figure) but its not. However, there is a ton of vegan friendly menu options. I've eaten here for about 2 years and the food is good. If you are looking for the standard pad Thai this may not be your place. If you like to try new food i would recommend the basil chicken or Mongolia steak. There are a lot of tasty options Yes there is a Thai place down the street that is good but i feel that Natalee Thai is way over priced for the food they serve. Both places are good but i come here its less crowed and cheaper

This review can be a bit biased since I am not a HUGE fan of Thai bbq. For the price you pay, this establishment is bang for your bucks. I frequent this joint w/ a friend who loves their bbq chicken. Always get their BBQ Chicken, Beef Satay and Pad Thai. Tom yong soup is good too when I don't feel like eating heavy~ A bit biased since I am not a fan of sweet dishes, especially when it comes to Asian food since I feel like everything is dipped in or drenched in some type of sweet, tangy sauce to make it more Asian American rather than the real thing~ One thing worth mentioning though is that they really cook their Chicken nice and moist, so I give them extra point for that. Been to Natalie Thai across the street as well, which I think is mostly for atmosphere more than the food. This place is more family diner-ish but if you crave BBQ chicken I think this place is a better choice. If you are on a date though, the ambience is nicer across the street. Just my 2 cents! ;)

Very good food. I had the drunken rice which was full of flavor, not too spicy and filling. I only ate about half and took the rest home. I also had their Thai iced tea which was good. The service was fine and it was fairly busy on a Friday night which is always a good sign.

My friend and I were craving Thai food. We were in the Santa Monica area, and though I told her to go to a different one because I've never been to this location she said this place was good, and "authentic". Mind you, I am Thai, and I know what authentic Thai food is or is not. And just because it says "Thai Original BBQ" doesn't mean it really is the original flavoring of Thai food. I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, and to my disappointment, I didn't enjoy it very much. I found it to be very greasy, and the noddles very sticky. The flavoring was off, and tasted more sour than it should even be, even though I tried to change the flavor with the additional condiments, it still didn't taste as good. They HAD ONIONS in it too. You don't put any ONIONs in Pad Thai... -____- So that was really strange... My friend order Thai BBQ Chicken dinner special, or whatever it was... The BBQ Chicken was good. But usually Thai BBQ you eat with sticky rice, it came with fried rice... I thought that was strange... There was no originality to it. I see this place as a Thai restaurant to fit the taste buds of American, and foreigners of Thai food. There are bunch of better Thai food places around there, like across the street Natalee Thai. I definitely recommend going there. This place is okay, but not to my liking! PLUS the waiter was really slow, and unattentive. Took forever to get his attention just to pay and leave.

Their barbecued chicken is a good sized portion- half a chicken with a side of shrimp fried rice and their yummy honey sauce. Their pad thai is good and not too orange. Also, I'm a fan of their coconut tom ka soup with shrimp. Their prices are reasonable and their portions are a good size.

My girlfriend and I ordered delivery of their Phad See-Ew and Yellow Curry. To start off, there was lots of frustrating miscommunication over the phone. The vegetables in the Phad See-Ew looked like they had been taken out of a can and the overall flavoring was very bland. My girlfriend said her Yellow Curry wasn't very good either. Probably won't be ordering from here again.

Went to many Thai places and have narrowed this as a tie with an other which i wont mention in this post!, I have the chicken cashew nut or panang chicken curry but always get it mild , so far always been delighted with the food and service, Ohh and my wife loves the bbq chicken meal ! Good location but parking is a problem !

  • Dan P.

I had the panang curry lunch special. The panang curry was pretty good but the ratio of rice to curry was way too high. I tried to conserve curry but still ended up with about 1/2 of my rice uneaten and a bit hungry. The pad thai looked good and I'll probably order that next time.

BEWARE... STAY AWAY OF THIS PLACE... BAD SERVICE... AND BAD FOOD. Another terrible experience! I tried to give this place another shot, but was let down again. I came and picked up $40 dollars worth of take out, when ordering I asked the woman taking my order to please take the shrimp tails off of the order's that included shrimp. She told me she did not know if they could do that?... What?!? Go ask please. Keep in mind I've never has issues with Natalee thai or Swanya Thai doing that for me. She came back and said they would do it. Great. I left a great tip and took my food home. When I got home the 3 orders that had shrimp in them all had tails on them... And the shrimp all had that black string on them, I was once told that was.... and always should be cleaned before eating! Secondly the tom yum soup did not taste fresh the shrimps were dry even though soaked in broth, same issue with the shrimp pad thai. The noodles were mushy, never had mushy pad thai before. Waste of money! I won't be back nor ever recommend someone to this restaurant in the future.

I added 3 stars because they have great staff and food was made quickly .....but food was just "ok". Pad Thai: 2 1/2 stars, a little bit on the bland side, though it was packaged well and was hot when we picked up. Eggplant with basil/garlic: 2 1/2 stars, rather bland but fresh and hot also. We asked for extra condiments which they quickly packed for us without nickle & diming us, which we appreciated. We may return to try their BBQ ribs, garlic pork riblets and other interesting dishes we saw on their yelp page but will probably not order Pad Thai here again. Best Pad Thai I'd recommend would be - Nariya Thai - 2nd floor on Sunset & Gower in Hollywood, still one of my favorite places for Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow, Pad See You and all the stir fry dishes like Pineapple Shrimp Fried Rice...ooooh! Hope this review helps. Cheers!

It's hard to find a good Thai restaurant. I used to go to places like Thai Beer in Marina del Rey, Natalee in Culver City, Thai Dishes in Westchester and Manhattan Beach, Chan Dara in West L.A. and Larchmont Village, etc. I do like certain things at Siam in Westchester and still go there for a couple of dishes. I like the pad Thai at this place and the lunch specials from 11 to 3 are good at $6.75. They come with rice and a salad. I tried the angel wings today and they were good. They came with a sweet vinegary cucumber sauce. If you come at a busy hour, you'd have a hard time finding a parking spot since this mini mall doesn't have a very big parking lot and there are a few other restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, and Italian) that share it.

I had the Thai bbq ribs yesterday and it was so good. The meat just fell off the bone. I'm knocking three stars because my shrimp fried rice tasted burnt and weird. My freaking rice had tiny black dots in it. Stupid chef stir fried it with burnt crap. Stupid

Parking here can be a bit difficult, but the food makes the hassle of finding parking worth it. It was the first time I was having deep-fried spring rolls, and they tasted really good. For six they were about $7. We ended up sharing a mixture of plates: the moo phad prik-king (pork and green beans) for $8. The green beans were crunchy enough to signal they had just come off the stove. The drunken fried rice ($9 w/combination of shrimp/chicken/pork) was supposed to be spicy, but it wasn't that spicy at all (but this comes from someone who grew up eating spices). The phad see-ew ($9 w/combination) was a bit of a disappointment because it was unusually greasy. Overall, I enjoyed the food and service.

thai food! this place can't compare to president thai. service is good. price and portion are okay. ordered the thai iced coffee and panang curry with brown rice. the panang curry is not flavorful or memorable in my opinion. might come back again and try other things on the menu! check out the picture i posted.

I ate there last night and spent the majority of the night holding back vomit and downing tums for an upset stomach - I would guess mild food poisoning. I ordered the garlic eggplant and panang beef. The eggplant, though pretty greasy (maybe it's supposed to be that way - it was my first time ordering the dish ever), was quite tasty. The panang beef, however, was not good at all. The meat was so hard to chew it hurt my teeth - seriously. I think it may have been the culprit to my ills, but who knows. They did have fast service, so that's good. Don't think I'll be returning though - too many other options in the area!

This Thai food is amazing. Its as good as it gets. I've eaten at many Thai places, but this place won't flood your food with oil, or dry it out either. Its also not too expensive, but just the right combination of service, quality, and price. My favorite restaurant in the area by far. Also they do take out! yum yum!

I can't wait to fall in love with you You can't wait to fall in love with me This just can't be summer love you'll see This just can't be summer love ,oh baby...at THAI ORIGINAL BBQ! - Justin Timberlake (summer love) Close to my house, but not close to my heart. I got the honey duck w/ shrimp fried rice. The duck, which didn't seem all that fresh, tasted ok. There were parts of it that might have been overcooked, i usually like my duck a little softer. The rice tasted decent but the vegetables that it came with (1 huge tomato slice + 3 huge cucumber slices) didn't seem appealing at all. I tried it but didn't eat much more of it as it didn't compliment the rice like it usually does at other thai places. I haven't had thai food in a long whiles and this was not the answer. The interior of the restaurant is pretty nice though, yay! Food: 3 stars --- Service: 4 stars --- Atmosphere --- 4 stars --- Price(value): 3 stars

This place is really darned good. The BBQ pork ribs were spectacular. The calamari was crisp and light. The Yellow Curry Chicken...so, so good. It is at least twice as good as Natalee Thai--directly across the street, and the prices here are better.

I really love the food here and love it more now that I am eating healthier because they will substitute the Jasmine rice with brown rice. I absolutely live for the S1 Rama Shrimp, so, good, but I do not like that red paste they put on top of the tomatoes, yick!!! The place needs to be refurbished because the carpet and tables are worn, but don't let that deter you from enjoying this really, really good Thai food.

If you're that Venice board walker creep who is checking yelp for a good Thai bite Yeah come here or the BBQ joint up the street. Only way to really enjoy the food is come here before they close sit by the tank and drink some spirits eat the food, there chicken steak is delishhhhh Dat rice and shrimp is too good. I haven't eaten at many Thai restaurants but this one is by far the best. The staff there are really nice And love smiling (:

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH. I place an order through yelp. I got a call saying that one of the items I ordered was unavailable. I asked that they send everything else. The woman said that it wasn't enough to complete the delivery. I explained that since they did not have the item I requested, and I didn't want a different item, that I would still like the rest delivered. She said "ok bye!" and hung up. I called back to confirm the order was still coming. The same woman answered and said that she was getting the item from "another location" and that it would take an additional 10-15 minutes and she had to re-start the order. I said I didn't want that to happen, and just wanted the single dish ordered. She said "Ok bye!" and hung up. I called a third time and asked to cancel the order. She told me I had to call Eat 24 and then said "ok bye!" and hung up on me AGAIN. I tried to go through eat 24, but they didn't recognize the order. I already show the amount as being processed on my credit card, and now have to wait for it to post before I can fight the charge. I will never do business with this company again. Terrible customer service leaving me infuriated and starving.

Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is mediocre but not bad. I'd recommend their pad see-ew or green garden plates and (if I recall correctly) their Thai beer.

Lunch Specials! This is the place I go for some Thai BBQ. Not the best Thai in town but perfect for a quick bite. When I go here I have the Pork BBQ with a Thai Ice Tea. The Pad See Eww is also a delight. The FBI (Fried Banana Ice Cream) is also something to try if you have room for some dessert.

This is my spot for thai food in culver city. I always order either their specialty thai bbq chicken, or every now and then the pad thai or pad see ew. The soup is always good here too, and the fried banana dessert is delic. I tend to come here for lunch and dinner and I've always left satisfied. So this is the busiest restaurant in the plaza, parking is okay. Sometimes you can get it in the lot, sometimes not. The street its on is usually empty anyways though so its never been a big deal. Service is always good here. Quickly seated and then they come get your orders, and food comes really fast. I've come here several times with 15 people for lunch before and its always been fine also. I like coming here for lunch the most because of the specials they have. For about 7 dollars you get so much food! I always end up only eating half my food and having to take it home. The salad is always refreshing, simple with light but creamy dressing. And I almost always order the thai bbq chicken. I've also tried the pad thai and the pad see ew and those aren't bad, but not the best. So always go for the specialty thai bbq chicken. Hmm thus the name. For both lunch and dinner you get a half a chicken, nicely cooked and never too dry. And lotsa rice, more rice during dinnertime I think and its a shrimp fried rice . I liek the sauce they have, but a lot of times I don't use it that much as I already like the flavor of the chicken. The fried banana is served with ice cream and they give you a generous portion of it. Nicely deep fried and crispy. So yes, come here and order the specialty. Oh and try the fried banana. I can't vouch for the other dishes other than the 2 noodles I mentioned. I usually have gone to other places for noodles and curry if i'm craving that stuff.

I've only been here twice but each time, the food I ordered was oh so good. This place is a random small restaurant that doesn't really stand out in any particular way so you might miss it. My first time there, I ordered the honey duck but it was so long ago I don't remember what else came with it, still, the duck was so moist and absolutely delicious and the price of the menu items don't hurt the pocketbook either.

Reasonable prices. Tasty food. Peanut sauce is spicy! Many seafood options. What surprised me most was what I selected for dinner: The Sate Plate. There is a Sate Appetizer for $8.25 which includes your choice of beef, chicken or combo, and cucumber salad. The Plate includes Shrimp Fried Rice for $11.50. Most of the menu is "no substitutions", but I asked if I could get chicken friend rice and was told I would be charged $1 more. Thinking the rice portion would be minimal, I was frustrated, but decided to go for the chicken fried rice anyway. WELL, I cannot begin to describe my surprise and could shoot myself for my mom's new "No Phone/Camera at the dinner table" rule. 3/4ths of the plate that arrived was covered in a mound of the rice -- which was tasty, too! And having ordered the Combo Sate, included 4 beef skewers and 4 chicken skewers. The amount of food was shocking! It was all delicious. Mom ordered a vegetable Pad Thai, which seemed very juicy and tasted good, and my brother ordered a beef Pad Se-ew, which tasted like most other places that I've had it. The location is in a corner strip center with 3-4 other eateries, so dinnertime may be tight on parking. This is a local spot which I have never tried, and this was a very pleasant surprise!

It's hard to find a good Thai restaurant because they all start to blend together in my mind after a while. There wasn't anything great or outstanding here, except for the fact that at 6pm it was the only place in the plaza showing signs of life. I was actually a little disappointed that my yellow curry didn't have any vegetables in it (no carrots? one big hard lump of potato?) and the flavor lacked dimension. All I got was coconut milk and a whisper of spice. Apparently the pad thai is also forgettable. Shoulda just stuck with the BBQ, like the sign says.

This is hands down my favorite Thai place on the West side! Authentic or not, we simply love their house specials, especially the Thai BBQ chicken and the BBQ pork spare ribs served with shrimp fried rice. Their meats are full of flavor and comes with a delicious sweet dipping sauce. We also enjoy their pineapple fried rice, mint chicken, and pad thai. I wish we were more adventurous in trying other items on their menu but we know what we love and tend to stick with it. Price: Reasonable for the amount that you get, and the quality. Service: Wonderful! Everyone is attentive. You are immediately greeted and acknowledged as soon as you walk through the door. Parking: A very small lot shared with several other restaurants, which makes parking difficult especially during their busy hours. Street parking is always available. Thank goodness we live close by. This is my go-to place that I like to take my friends/co-workers for dinner. They love it too!

My mistake was reading one random review by an elite yelper and getting my hopes up. Yes, the pad Thai lunch special is a dollar cheaper (6.95) than their entree price. Yes, u get a salad w yellow dressing---it's a type of honey mustard. No, it is not one of the better pad Thais out there. Overwhelmingly salty!!! Also tried the chicken curry item from the lunch specials. Cant go wrong right? Right.. Except that the chicken is super dry. The food is not bad, it's just not satisfying or fulfilling. However, I may end up returning... bc they offer free delivery for orders over $15... and they weren't terrible or anything.. Oh, and their takeout menu has a coupon for free Thai tea on any order over $15 -_- Bottom line: Service is good, food is blah. Prices are ok, portions are fair.

In L.A., there's a Thai restaurant on nearly every corner, and this restaurant happens to be in a mecca as there are a half dozen in its vicinity. I picked this spot on the fervent recommendation of a co-worker who insisted that the Thai BBQ chicken here is some of the best in town, and that the house sauce it comes with is really something special. Although I still need to try its competitors, I was really pleased with my takeout experience at Thai Original BBQ Culver City. Thai Original BBQ has a dozen locations all over Los Angeles and in other cities, and I think there's a good reason for it: very affordable prices, extensive menu, authentic flavors. I was surprised that their apps were hearty and around $7, and that a lot of dishes are under $10. They even have a dinner combo specials where it's only $12 for something like their signature barbecue Thai chicken with shrimp fried rice. That's the dinner price! They even had honey duck for only $9.95, which I must try next time. They are mostly known for their BBQ Thai chicken and spare ribs, but I craved noodles and got the pad see ew. It wasn't the best I've had but it wasn't oily, had tons of meat, noodles and (American) broccoli, and hit the spot for only $8.95. I walked in and ordered it to go, and it was ready in about 7 minutes. Their Monday through Friday lunch special is only like $7 and comes with rice. Normally a half BBQ chicken is like $9, but you can get the same thing for cheaper at lunch.

Parking in this plaza is pretty inconvenient. Not only is it pretty full, but the way the spots are oriented makes it really difficult to get a good angle to pull into most of them. My friend and I got here around 6pm and were seated immediately. Our server was nice, but his friendly attempts at cracking jokes and sarcastically "denying" us chopsticks and water got confusing lol. We had the drunken noodles (with chicken), chili beef, and garlic short ribs. The drunken noodles tasted very similarly to pad see ew. They were very good, but I've been spoiled by the portions from Westwood's Noodle World, so I guess I was expecting more volume. The garlic short ribs were a little bit dry inside, but the garlic sauce was SO good. Definitely make use of it each time you take a bite, or dip your other dishes in it! The chili beef was my least favorite - good, but nothing special. I'm not much of a beef person anyway. We had a lot left over, but we both have small stomachs so this isn't saying much. We also received the wrong check at the end which freaked us out a little. Figured he was a new worker, plus he was friendly, so no harm done. All in all, this place borders on 3.5 stars, but I'll be nice today.

Come here for the various BBQ/meat items, not for the noodles. I ordered a number of different items for a large family meal. The Ruby chicken, ribs, BBQ chicken (all moist!) and their accompanying sauces were delicious. The shrimp fried rice was good too, and I don't typically enjoy fried rice. The only item I found disappointing was the pad see ew, which was a little dry and bland. Strangely, the amount of noodles in the dish seemed to be lacking (lots of meat/broccoli though), which I've never experienced.

This is pretty authentic Thai food unlike the crap thay they're schlepping out at Natalee Thai across the street. The kitchen staff and the waiting staff are all Thai. The restaurant is a little cheesy, like they're trying to be classy/fancy but really, how fancy can you be when you're in a dingy little strip mall next to a fast food filipino place? ********* The Good: Pad Thai, any of the soups, Angel Wings, open pretty late for Culver City The Bad: Limited parking in the lot Overall: GREAT food, NOT a good date place but a good place for a small group of friends to go out to eat. Very decently priced.

The food here is delicious. Depending on what you order, it can either be a really good deal or overly priced. But I am still a huge fan of the beef satay dinner -- 6-8 skewers of satay beef with shrimp fried rice and their very own cucumber salad whatchamacallit. The Thai iced tea here is also my favorite. I love this place and could probably eat here every day if my lunch schedule would allow it.... I would have given them a higher rating on the food alone but there is a huge downside to my dining experience with them.. I received one of their flyers at home advertising that they delivered within 5 miles. I placed a phone order one night and calculated the distance between my apartment and their restaurant, which are a little over 4 miles apart. However, they called me back and said they wanted me to pick up my food because I lived outside of their delivery area. BULL--SHIITE!!! Needless to say, I didn't pick up the food, made them eat the cost and have boycotted this particular location forever. I still eat at Thai BBQ, just not this one. P.S. -- to the reviewer called STAN C. You're right about the Thai iced tea refills. It's a joke that they would even charge you for it. But I have a hot tip for you. If you're ever in Las Vegas and are craving Thai BBQ, the closest one to the strip is in a weird location just behind the Stratosphere next to this seedy motel. They serve deep fried catfish which is DELICIOUS!! The only TBBQ location that I have ever known to serve that dish. And, get this, they do not charge you for free refills on Thai tea!!! It's been a while since I've been there but I know for a fact they'll give you at least one refill for FREE. But if you have to order a third one, well, they might charge you for that cuz they're probably poor now, too. Enjoy!!! =)

The food is horrendous. Any positive feedback can only be coming from those who have never eaten a decent meal. The spicy beef salad made a salt lick seem bland. The combination of salt and acid from the lime juice (concetrate?) left me struggling to get halfway through the plate. Believe me when I say I am an ardent fan of savory foods and have a deep affinity for citric acids, but this was unedible at best and burned my palate out. The grilled trout was even worse. Really? I was left wondering how they could possibly get fish to taste of burnt hair. I found myself asking the same question that a preceding reviewer posed, "how do you get that wrong?". If you are on a hunt for the worst eateries in Los Angeles, this place should be at the very top of your list. Otherwise, there is no reason to take one step through the door.

The Westside doesn't have a shortage of Thai restaurants. In fact, in the Marina I know of 5 that are within a delivery radius. Even the delivery places are uber-convenient, I still love Original Thai BBQ the best because is cheap, tasty, and fast. When I call in a to-go order, it usually takes about 15 minutes and it's still delicious when I bring it home. We usually go for the spicy shrimp soup, pad see ewe, and the dearest crab. It's' more than plenty for 2 people.

If Thai BBQ is on your list to try, move it to the bottom. This restaurant is one of the worst Thai restaurants in SoCal. The Thai BBQ Chicken was decent but the shrimp fried rice it came with was disgusting. It was more like mixed rice and the shrimp was mushy and inedible. The Roast Duck was also disgusting. Nasty sauce over stale duck. The duck was probably a week old. This restaurant is stuck in the 80s/90s. Who uses slice of orange for garnish now a day? Service is decent but with so many Thai restaurants in the neighborhood, try the others first. I don't think they can be any worst.

I ate here my first night in my apartment which is a few blocks away. Natalee Thai is catty-corner but I was all sweaty from moving and wanted a quiet, unassuming atmosphere. Which wasn't Natalee, with its glass walls, colorful lighting scheme, and streaming customers. NT also appeared expensive. So I stumbled into BBQ and it was the atompsphere I needed- a homey neighborhood joint where I felt comfortable throwing my dinner date down on the table (An Us Weekly). I had a salad with peanut dressing, panang curry w/ chicken (my litnus for thai food), and some tofu/mixed veggie dish. Everything was okay, certainly decent and edible but not tasty enough to stop me from seeking a better home-base thai place. Of course, that place ended up being Natalee Thai. (see review) The panang is much tastier than BBQ's and the same price. Natalee is NOT more expensive than BBQ thai despite the razzle-dazzle appearance. However, NT's loud atmosphere means I usually do delivery or pick up. Maybe I should try BBQ's signature dishes. But there's too many awesome places to try in LA to go back to a place that's just decent, ya know?

I think their name would be more accurate if they changed it to "Thai (Chinese) BBQ". They're actually not really that bad. I've had the satay skewers which were ok, and the crispy honey glazed duck is pretty freakin good. And I once went when I was in a rush, and they brought the food out super fast. But if you're looking for authentic thai food -- food that has such a melange of spices that you couldn't possibly identify them all -- this place isn't for you. It really seemed borderline Chinese food to me.

Went there for lunch a couple of days ago and totally forgot how delightfully delicious their food is. Love the won tons (although I take the shrimp out) and their delicious BBQ chicken along with that incredibly tasty rice. Consistency has been the same for years - which I love! Parking is a nightmare as the lot rarely accommodates the multitude of customers; the place is consistently busy; highly recommend ordering ahead for take out rather than walking in and waiting. Generally food is provided promptly but there's no convenient place to hang out if you want to wait for food. Small and good.

I think I'm especially hard on this restaurant because I am Thai. We ordered bbq chicken and the pad-see-ew. The pad-see-ew was greasier than usual and did not taste authentic what so ever. The BBQ chicken was average while the accompanying fried rice was lack luster. Both dishes were not strong in flavors as Thai food is known for. Although this place is across the street from me, I would go to the Japanese restaurant next door if I needed a quick and easy meal. I'm also more into the flavors at Thai Boom, hence I most likely would not give this place another chance due to the close proximity of other Thai restaurants.

  • Eva L.

The reason we always come here because we know that this place has no wait which also apply how good their food is. The safe side on the menu will be " BBQ chicken combo". surprise why it's not pad thai? The pad thai is too sweet and also the "pad see yu". I had their soup, and "NEVER ORDER IT AGAIN!" The soup is like water mix with some sour power cuz it's super sour. The thai ice tea is okay cuz it's way too sweet, so ask for less sugar will be benefit to your body. They have to big fish tanks in there, and i always wonder how often they wash it. poor fishes!! I will still come back because it's convenience and not as busy, expensive, little portion as the thai place across. Suggestion - if you really want to have real thai food, thai town will be the place to go.

Just good food at a good price with friendly staff. You get a generous portion each time and it is always fresh, no mystery meat and tasty ingredients. The curries are average I have to say, but that doesn't stop me from going back again and again.

[EDIT]: Everything is relative. At first, I thought, Asian food in the US is never as good as in the homeland. But then I realized, it's never authentic enough because we're three layovers, two bodies of water, and one int'l date line away from the freshest herbs, coconuts, and spices. Yes, it's good when you can't make it across the oh-so-busy-10-to-the-101 intersection to Thai Town. It's even better in relation to the neighboring Thai foodie competition. Upped!! from 3 stars to 4. The List o' Recommendations: Masamun Curry (beef) Mint Chicken Larb Papaya Salad Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Cucumbers Fried Banana with Vanilla Ice cream

blahh....not worth it.. we ordered the pad see ew and their bbq chicken with rice plate. very ordinary stuff. both dishes were not very flavorful and the chicken was dry. i could probably make pad see ew taste like this at home. overall just not well executed. has a late-night-asian-fast-food-delivery kinda feeling to it. typical thai food joint in LA. id skip this place and try thai boom, which is just down venice a little further. price is about the same but quality is head and shoulders above this place.

Best thai food I've had in LA, and cheap. Across from Natalee Thai, but cheaper and better. Everything is great, but go for the Chicken Larb (pronounced "lob") or anything with duck. It's also cheap: $25 will get you two entrees and an appetizer during dinner. It'll be enough food for tomorrow's lunch. Also, stupid cheap lunch special.

Don't be fooled that the restaurant might be only half full on a Saturday. We went there last night at 7:30pm and we loved it! It has a very warm, quiet atmosphere with good lighting and 2 big aquariums. The service was great and we loved the food. Plus you just can't beat the prices! It might not be a completely "deluxe & trendy" dining experience but Thai BBQ has it's heart in all the right places.

One word: Yummmmmmmmmm. I have been to many Thai places (OK, not many in Thai town where it's all supposed to be the real thing) and have grown weary and less enthused by all that Thailand's eclectic flavors have to offer. But my anticipating taste buds NEVER tire of entering into Thai BBQ (chain restaurant with bright yellow and red sign, tho not at all reminiscent of fast food Mickey D's). The orangy, red sticky sauce is their SIGNATURE, wonderfully delectable condiment that can be poured on every dish offered at this restaurant. Top choices: BBQ Chicken (skin and all is best, though when u get to the healthier chkn breast part, it can get dry but the least dry Thai BBQ chicken I've had) with the shrimp fried rice. Next: Satay Skewers (get beef! or combo of chkn and beef--chkn satay can get dry but that's where the offered condiment comes in) Can I say Yummmmmm again!? disclaimer: more on the americanized side where the exotic kick in every dish is not necessarily there (not a big fan of the soury soup anyway). oh, over and over again I order the salmon dish and over and over I am disappointed. I wouldn't order the salmon. the sauce, the broccoli..just doesn't match too well. mental note to self, don't order the salmon.

This has got to be the worst Thai BBQ restaurant I've been too. I'm generally a fan of Thai BBQ because it's fast, cheap, and good. But something was really off with this particular restaurant. We ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp. First of all it was not drunk at all... where was the sauce? And the shrimps were HORRIBLE... they were like freeze-dried shrimps. ICK! We also ordered S-1 (bbq chicken with fried rice) - chicken was dry. And a red curry which was the most decent of the three entrees. Probably will not be going here again especially when there are 10,000 other Thai restaurants around the neighborhood.

Parking is a pain, but if you go one block east, you can find street parking (where you will also come across two charming apartment buildings, are you in Culver City or at Disneyland - as my friend would say?) The two of us shared the spicy beef salad, spicy seafood soup & the "drunken fried rice" with pork. The spicy beef salad was great. The dressing was spicy, but very flavorful. Crispy cucumbers & lettuce accompany the tender pieces of beef. Unfortunately, the pork in the fried rice was a bit overcooked and dry. The rice was more than enough for two people to share. And on top of the spicy seafood soup, we were STUFFED. The only drawback to the soup - the chewy crab. Maybe it was boiled too long? Either way, I was grateful for the REAL pieces of crab. YUM! Service was good. The wait staff was friendly & attentive. Nice, quiet & "homely." Prices are average, not too cheap, not terribly expensive.

I like thai food, and I've tried plenty of Thai restaurants around town, and i believe i'm not the harshest grader when it comes to food, but the original thai bbq realli disappointed me. i only live a few blocks away, so i decided to tried it. price was definitely on the higher end and the portion they gave us was tiny. i felt like an little boy who just got his pacifier jacked by his punk older brother b/c i paid $25 for like a bowl worth of pad thai and pad see-yew served on some fancy plates. With some many other thai restaurants near by, i realli have no clue how they stay in business. i shall never come back here...

Greasy? You bet. spicy sweet fresh cooked. Not a haute cusine, but when you want some spicy noodles, fast and (kinda) cheep. This works. There are lots of better thai restaurants, but for thai fast food to sooth a cold like I'm sufferin with. It's OK. Not very high praise. Oh well........

I'm Thai, so I'm picky when it comes to Thai food. Been to a lot of Thai restaurant in Thailand and a lot of them are forgettable. But this place stood out, in the worst way possible. Food was pretty awful, both in taste and quality.

when i want pad kee mao and want to stay in west la (which is most of the time), this is where i go. food's tastier and far cheaper than natalee thai across the street. they tend to overcook their meat though, since they only use lean meat, pretty thinly-sliced. still they season everything well and the noodles usually turn out great. their pineapple fried rice makes me happy. plus they deliver. i think 5 mile radius with a $10 minimum order. good little neighborhood joint. as for parking, yup the lot is small, but i've never had a problem finding parking on venice or any of the side streets.

Whenever i have a craving for Thai and I'm in Culver City I hear to Thai BBQ. The food is great for the most part. However, for some reason everytime I order pad thai...its horrible. It has no flavor and the pasta never looks fully cooked. The last time I ordered it i had to just throw it out. I also have to mention that the girl that takes the orders and answers the phone would benefit from a few customer services training classes.

I've been here several times. My favorite is the beef sate. It comes with really tasty peanut sauce. The meat has always been very tender. Everything else we've tried has also been very good. The parking lot is small and fills up fast. We've never once had to wait to be seated. The prices are very reasonable.

I assume the higher ratings are for people who dined in. We got delivery, and it was just straight up terrible. Our order took an hour to arrive, and we live 3 blocks away. The second we opened up the packaging, the problems were obvious. I ordered Garlic & Pepper tofu, and the cilantro on top was army green, with the tofu a lovely shade of gray. Also, it was served on a bed of wet, warm lettuce, and usually garlic&pepper comes on cabbage. My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry with tofu, and it was 99% chunks of tofu, with one potato. One. potato. No carrots, no onions, no anything-that-wasn't-tofu. Mine tasted awful, and currently, I still feel sick from it. My boyfriend said the tofu was flavorless. The only thing that was anywhere near decent was the spring roll, which was soft from waiting around so long, but was the only thing I could actually eat. This is the third place in the area we've tried, and the third disappointment.

I've enjoyed this restaurant very much over the years since it took over the old Natalee Thai spot. Not as showy but just as good for my taste. I tend to stick to the Scampi or BBQ chicken entrees which are very good. The atmosphere is nice, not pretentious. The service is good and there usually isn't a long wait. The only caveat is the parking can get difficult at time but street parking is usually available with a short walk.

Love this place. My friend and I usually go here after a stroll around Venice. The Thai barbecue chicken is very good along with the Thai fried rice with the shrimp. The chicken wasn't like the other Thai chicken in other places where the chicken has been mummified in the oven since the a.m. I've read a couple of reviews about this place and have found it that people absolutely hate the shrimp tails. To give request that the restaurant should have them removed is an insult to culinary presentation. Come on, this isn't Mc Donalds where you order a big mac and remove the lettuce and tomatoes. What are you twelve? Suck it up.

There are more Thai restaurants in L.A. than there are Thais. This one however has the best Pad Thai Noodle I've ever tasted. And they are the nicest people, so gentle you know.

I love the angel wings here and some other items are ok.... I have a "fun night" order in, once a week so I tried this place ordering in with several friends(100.00 order) I was treated with complete disrecpect! Three different people got on the phone to take my order... god bless them.... none could speak clear english. After an hour and a half still no delivery. I called and was asked to wait another 45 minutes???? HUH? I will probably give another chance.... when I have hours to kill.

If you're in the Culver City area and want Thai, but don't want to spend the extra $ across the street at Natalee Thai, then this is a good spot. The prices are reasonable and they have quick service although the noodle dishes can be a bit too oily. Closed on Tuesdays. Good for the price.

*** this is the same place as "original thai bbq". they decided to open a new yelp review with the word "original" removed so that newb's wouldnt see their 3 star review. please check those reviews for a more accurate rating of this place. VERY BAD. i would rather pay a CRAP LOAD more and go to natalie thai.. even though i hate that place too. why are most wla thai places so bad??? is a legit place to much to ask for? and to the owners of thai bbq, dont leave me a lame message calling me names. its nothing personal..instead of wasting your energy doing that... ... improve your food and the reviews will get better.. isnt it so simple?

I have been here a couple of times and they have never dissapointed me. The food is always fresh and they provide you with very generous portions. I always order the chicken pad thai and it is always delicious. I've ordered food for take out as well as dine in and they have been great. I have no complaints and recommend that you give them a try!

It's cheap eats but pretty good for what you're getting! I typically stick to their house specials and go from there. The Sate is great with the peanut sauce, you can't go wrong with the beef or the chicken, but I think the beef Sate generates better flavor and satisfaction for me personally. The wait staff is nice and you can get your meal pretty quickly and enjoy it with a Thai Iced Tea. Fun and cheap when you're on a budget, but also a good place to go even if you don't have to save money! Check it out!

ugh... i was pretty damn disappointed... i think i rarely write bad reviews, especially if u look at my distribution. i mean, wuts the point right? like u just go to the good places according to the good reviews... why even read how bad i place is so... if u choose not to read this review, i understand. had high expectations... let me tell u why. i love thai and i love bbq, and if its original, than im all for it... especially if i've read good reviews and its close to my apt. well, i was vastly disappointed. i brought the gf and was hyped and excited... when we came in, they didnt sit us and we sat on our own, than we ordered the thai bbq chicken a la carte, brwn rice, white rice, and the fried golden tofu. the brown rice was a bit hard, not that much chicken, and the tofu had little seasoning. i had to keep helping myself with the chili peppers that took forever to get a hold of. than i ordered a thai iced tea and cuz i had to slop on the chili peppers to give anything else flavor, i had to down a few thai iced teas.... which mind you, it took forever to get. i kept trying to get someone's attention, i had to ask help from 3-4 separate ppl b/c my original waitress was in the other room of the restaurant. finally, as my gf and i were chatting, the waitress comes and says "Oh, soiwee, i must takes this checks. prease excuse"... so i'm like "wtf mofo". than she comes back and my bill goes from like 17.80 to like 23.15. so i asked why it was more and she said it was the refills on the thai iced tea. now u may say, oh its cuz u got 3 thai iced teas thats why stan... but i've been goin to thai and chinese restaurants for a long time, and i dont know of any places that charge for refills on thai iced teas. i guess it may be a west-side thing but it sorta pissed me off and ruined my dinner. not the the dinner date, but the dinner. i mean wut kinda asian ppl do that sorta thing?? dont they know its a recession, im poor and starving student. i can tell u that im not goin back. period.

Nothing special about this place. No taste in the curries, very disappointing. The only taste the chicken had was from all the sauce I had to pour over it. Processed food, not authentic. I'll have to continue my drive to Redondo Beach to get decent Thai, this place has really gone downhill. Service also nothing to rave about - what a waste of $. At least the over priced thai iced tea did not disappoint, but how hard is that to make? lol

The self-proclaimed famous BBQ chicken is tasty and had plenty of tasty charred bits. The servings are huge; fortunately, the prices are not commensurate with the portions. It's not the greatest place, but it's solid and way cheap.

  • Anonymous P.

A little disappointing. The chicken was way overcooked. The seafood did not seem particularly fresh. The spicing was unrefined. Three stars would have been reasonable, but come to think of it, this Thai meal was worse than average.

this place is legit. my coworkers are addicted to this place. almost every plate ive tried there has been yummy and reasonable price. the waitress are very attentive. the parkin is crap but they deliver pretty quickly.

The BBQ chicken with shrimp fried rice is what it's ALL about. In fact, sometimes I'm quite happy with just the shrimp fried rice itself! The fried shrimp rolls and thai spring rolls are great snacks by themselves. Parking is a bit difficult to find if you're there during busy hours, but hey...they deliver! Oddly enough, I've never actually eaten IN the restaurant since I've always picked-up my food or had it delivered, but everyone always looks happy when they're there. :)

AWESOME!!! The chicken chow mein has to be the best ever!!!! I don't eat seafood but I've taken several people here that do and they love the shrimp rolls. The parking is often a nightmare, but that can't and won't ever stop me from eating in or picking up food here. The ambiance isn't great, but the food is WELL WORTH it and makes up for anything that the place itself lacks.

DISAPPOINTING. I used to get food here all the time then twice in a row, I came in around 1pm and they were already out of chicken. I stopped coming... that was over a year ago. I was in the area so I thought I'd order S1 to go. They had it this time so I was happy... until I got home and saw that the chicken was really small and that half the chicken breast was missing!!! Plus it was pretty dry. My order was definitely NOT half of a chicken as advertised in their menu.

Been ordering takeout from this place for years. First time eating inside this location in quite awhile. LOOKED UP and I could see filthy air vents including one right over our table. Shockingly surprised that restaurants aren't required to cleaning this weekly. May not go back again. Can't eat where cleanliness details don't seem to matter.

Ordered dinner pad thai with shrimp and bbq chicken with fried rice. Their pad thai was too sweet... The fried rice lacked flavor but their chicken was tender and flavorful. When I went around 3pm, it was empty so service was good. Two server ladies were kind and quick with refilling water or getting us more lemons/napkins.

We arrived at this Thai place and were sat almost immediately. It looked relatively busy for a Tuesday night. For an appetizer I got the hot and sour chicken soup. My buddy got the seafood soup. The presentation was awesome when they arrived and the portions are huge. If two people go I recommend sharing one of the soups as an appetizer, otherwise you will not finish your entrees. In addition, we got sweet and sour chicken, which may I add was delicious. The chicken phad Thai was good too, use the sweet and sour sauce with this. My friend got the honey duck. He said it was a little overlooked but none the less, he enjoyed it. The service was ok, nothing outstanding, but the ladies were nice. Food came out at a reasonable time, did not wait too long and the waiters kept checking in with us. Four stars is about right for this place. Enjoy!

Worst Panang beef I've ever had. Described on the menu as a rich curry sauce, it was far from rich. More like watery and flavorless. The beef tasted as if it had been slowed cooked in water for 24 hours and then covered with a watery substitute for Panang curry. Absolutely flavorless and mushy. It was unappealing looking and chopped into oddly shaped hunks. The Larb tasted like chemicals. They were kind enough to refund my money, since 3/4 of our meal was inedible.

I live in Los Angeles and who first introduced me to this place was my dad. I don't even know what he was doing over in culver city anyway he said to me " I want u guys to try this new Thai food its bomb" so we went and ordered a Spicy seafood soup Chow mein Chicken dumplings And vegetable Fried rice My dad was right IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS THAI FOOD I HAVE EVER TRIED ( and I eat at many Thai foods) The soup is to die for. At first it was weird to me because the soup has a red color to it but don't let the color deceive you. The price is fair because of the quality of the food is just amazing I don't have if the soup is 20$( not that this is the price just saying lol) I will still buy this soup The people are okay not that they socialize as much but I don't care the food Is fast and good. We go all the way to culver city from LA FOR THIS FOOD so that means it's worth the drive.

Only to add to my previous dissatisfied review I'm updating it because the shrimp fried rice was worse than the chow mein . Only got 3 shrimps which smelled and reeked of bad fish smell the broccoli had freezer burns on it and the fried rice did not have any eggs or any flavor it wasn't even fried it was more like fat Mexican rice just mixed in 3 shrimps. Wow by far the worst food experience I had all my life. This Resturant is really really bad .. I really disappointed . Two dishes are ordered are usually staple Thai food and this so called Thai Resturant so bad in its staple food I can't even imagine what other dishes would be like . Really terrible experience.

Poor customer experience... Server forgot to write down my food order after repeating it to me! I waited 20min before I had to say anything thing didn't get any discount nor sorry only got a I didn't hear you when clearly she repeated me my food order! Asked her for her name and she told she didn't have to tell me her name and walked away with a mad attitude! Honestly liked the food but the service was just the worst! Everyone finished their meals before me and had to wait for me to finish! Won't come be coming back here

Hole in the wall, but pretty darn good. Been here a few times and I have to say, the pork spare ribs are worth the 1/4 mile walk and then some. Fall off the bone with great flavor and sauce. The service isn't incredible and it can take a bit of time once you order, but it's worth it. Chicken Larb is a little intense and the dumplings aren't worth the money, but everything else I've had here has been great!

Whhhyyyy? I usually don't give bad reviews unless deserved...so here it goes. We ordered for delivery, specifically because my son liked the BBQ ribs. I had forgotten the bad service and dirty restrooms from a few years ago, when we last visited the restaurant in person...but my wife was quick to remind me, once the drama tonight began. First off...they didn't include the order of BBQ ribs (which was the main dish). When I called them back to tell them, they told me that it was my fault (at least 3x), and I never ordered that. They also told me that it would be another $15 minimum order for delivery (because of policy) and the driver was already out on another run...and they couldn't do anything to help me. My reply..."So...you are telling me I'm wrong...after I just ordered over $50 worth of food...and you won't even offer to help the situation, so we can get our kids fed without having to order more or pay extra for something YOU forgot to include? How about I leave you a nice Yelp review?" Their reply..."Ok, I may have made a mistake, I'm sorry, but it's still a $15 minimum order for delivery. I can't help you, and you can't talk to the owner until next Saturday" (that's a week from now, by the way). Really? ...add another possible hour for delivery...forget it. Done. I really hope their demand for the $15 minimum makes up for the hundreds of dollars they will never see from us over the years. After all, they were right...it was my fault. My fault for forgetting this place sucks. Now I am reminded of why we stopped ordering her in the first place...as we pull together something random from our own fridge, to feed a very disappointed hungry kid.

I did not know this place existed.....after having lived in the area for so many years. Sigh. Located inside a small shopping plaza....this little gem delivered! Maybe it was my lucky day. Our waiter was excellent. He was witty and funny....and of course great customer service. We ordered the following: Shrimp Salad - large shrimps, cucumber, tomatoes, carrot and onions, and lettuce with house dressing. Eggplant Basil - eggplant stir-fried with basil, fresh mint and chili. Chuu Chee Salmon - grilled saimon fillet topped wilh "chuu chee" curry condense sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with brown rice. Definitely coming back when I'm in the area. The parking lot is a mess, don't even try. I parked on the street.

If you like waiting two hours for your delivery then I highly recommend this place. Especially when you like it that the staff doesn't tell you anything even after you called them twice. I'll wait two hours for a delicious restaurant. But not for this. This is my fifth time ordering from this place and I just decided....NEVER AGAIN.

Good place to get your Thai fix. Usually great with giving you a time frame when you call in for a TO GO order. Prices are fairly reasonable and service is great. However, I recall one night when I tried calling for a to go order. The phone kept ringing and ringing and finally when someone picked up, I was quickly hung up on. I thought it might have been a problem with their phone, so I called again... and the same thing happened. I was like... WTF?! Ok, maybe they must be REALLY busy... so I decided to go there in person and order to go. When I get there, it's not busy at all so I place my order and take a seat and wait. Confused, I used my cell phone to call them again and AGAIN... the gal at the register picked up the call and hung up. Hmm.... now I'm in awe so I call back again and again with the same result. I was thoroughly entertained while I waited for my order. Seems like someone was having a very bad day at work!

I love the Monster salad and mee krob mixed together. The barbecue chicken plate is awesome and I always have leftovers for the next day. Shrimp rolls are delightful and the coconut shrimp soup is a culinary delight. Always great customer service. Very nice fish tank with Dori and Nemo ! Not to expensive either .

This seems to be the favorite lunch spot for hospital employees from down the street. On any given day, the restaurant may be filled with people wearing scrubs and surgical attire. They have lunch specials but don't honor those prices on holidays. I happened to visit on MLK day. Prices may be high for a Thai restaurant but the portions and the taste more than make up for that. I had the S-8 sate plate. It had a sweet cucumber salad, eight skewers of sate chicken and beef and a bed of fluffy fried rice. The sate meats were all perfectly bbq'd with just the right amount of smoky char flavor. The fried rice was excellent. My favorite part was the creamy peanut sauce. I would definitely recommend this place.

As a newbie to this area and having tasted Nathalie Thai several times, this place has won my favor! I have sampled their BBQ chicken, spicy shrimp soup and shrimp fried rice- and each dish was absolutely delish! They also serve a boba Thai iced tea that is also excellent. Their service is also perfect and the food always comes out fresh and hot. Additionally, you're always welcomed with warm smiles and never have to worry about water refills. Overall, if you are in the area and want some good eats- check out this place as I know you'll not be disappointed.

My family and I have been going to this place for YEARS. My sister always gets the pad see ew, which is solid. But my mom,dad and I always stick with one thing- the RIBS! You don't see this anywhere else- thai flavored meat-falling-off-the-bone ribs. it comes with this sweet sauce, and fried rice. Large portions and delicious. I always get mine with extra sauce. Want to know something embarrassing? I went to Thailand and asked the locals if they have ribs- nope, they don't have them. It was so disappointing, but then it made me realize I had a gem right by my house! I've never had a problem with service here. I mean you're not paying for a 5 star restaurant butt-kiss quality, that's for sure, but we always get seated quickly and our food arrives fast.

Gross.Ordered vegetable spring rolls, seemed like they were defrosted. Then had the veggie spicy soup , tastes like tomato soup with veggies. Main plate was the pad Thai and drunken noodles both of which were less than sub par. On top of that place seemed dirty and saw a dead fly and dust on the window sill. Needless to say, will not be returning!

  • Nicole V.

Delivery was fast, but food left something to be desired. I ordered drunken vegetables + tofu, and it got to my apartment only for me to discover they didn't include any rice. I've been eating at Thai places for many years, and I've never encountered a Thai place that doesn't include rice with entrees or at least let you know all over the menu that rice is sold separately. This is unusual. With it being delivery, I couldn't ask them to bring out rice really quickly from the kitchen, so I had to cook it myself. Not the end of the world, I know, but not why I got delivery. :) I also found the food to be extremely bland (even though I ordered it spicy). The sauce tastes like plain soy sauce with red pepper flakes over veggies. I could have made it myself. Bummer. Thai BBQ is not on my list of westside Thai places I'll order from again.

The food here are the worst Thai food that I ever had in LA. Food is cold when they served on table. Fried rice is sweet. Beef and broccolis no taste as well. Garlic shorts ribs was cold when is served. Steam fish is ok. The food here are no taste and fav at all. If you like non taste food, I strongly recommend here. But I will never come back again.

It's a good standby. Nothing fancy, but a good lunch spot or delivery pick up. There's a lot of Thai places in the area to choose from and I eat here about 1x a week. They use white meat chicken, which many places don't. The chicken ruby is fab and a big dinner! I like the garlic chicken, the shrimp wonton soup, the steamed fish is a nice healthy dish when they have it... not a bad weekday kind of spot, y'know? Staff is always polite and happy to see me. They've earned my consistent business.

  • Taji H.

This place is a fail. The basil eggplant was raw and not fully cooked. The pad see eew was good but the broccoli was undercooked. The chili shrimp had very few shrimp but a lot of uncooked onions and red peppers. The taste of the food was mediocre. Overall don't waste your time or your money. Not worth it. Price is reasonable, but you get what you pay for.

Ordered delivery via eat24 because I am lazy. I got the fried wontons, chicken sate, and beef pad see ew. The wontons were disappointing, some had almost no shrimp and they were a bit stale. I got the sate for my boyfriend and he said they were good. Pad see ew was decent; I ordered it mild so I was expecting for it to be a little spicy, but it wasn't at all. Luckily for me they gave me a small thing of chili paste. Everything came in pretty large portions, definitely something you can share with someone. I'd probably order from here again. ++ free delivery with a $15 min

Dear Thai Original BBQ & Restaurant, Your flavors are definitely a taste-bud turn on, compared to your across-the-street rival, but please please please make an effort to keep your BBQ ribs in stock. We were quite disappointed when you told us that you ran out the night before, especially since we wanted to try it during lunch special hours. We did try your recommendation of the BBQ chicken lunch special, and wow... It was quite delicious! Thank you for that. Also, your noodle dishes are yummy, though most of your dishes are covered in a bit too much sauce. Though in your favor, flavor is better than blandness. Good thai iced tea, sweeter than the thai tea across the street. Certain staff members are friendlier than others (of course), and my daughter had a great time each time dining here. She even let one of you pick her up! -RW

Haven't been here in awhile, but it's an old favorite of the husband, so we recently came back. Ordered chicken & shrimp pad thai and beef yellow curry. - Service is quick. They are on top of it. - Pad thai was good, but what was REALLY good was the curry sauce. I normally get yellow curry when I eat Thai and this sauce was the best I've had in awhile. I think it's been so long since I've eaten here that I forgot how good it was. I've been trying to go easy on the carbs, but found myself just eating the rice with the sauce. Yum! - One note, do NOT get beef curry. The beef was not great. Chewy, dry, bland. I normally get chicken and ventured out this time. Do not venture out. Stick with chicken.

Yummy drunken noodles! Super fast take out. Love this place! The green curry with vegetables is always delish and the S1 bbq chicken wonderfully moist and tender... And that chili sauce is the perfect accompaniment.

We here with a friend to try out the new Thai town popping up in Culver City. I have been to many Thai places around LA, including in the heart of Thai town and this place definitely hits high marks. For our meal we ordered the drunken noodles, the hawaiian curry, the beef short ribs, and the spicy mint chicken. All of the dishes were tasty, but the drunken noodles and beef short ribs were my favorites. As I mentioned before, I have sampled many different Thai dishes around the LA area and these were way up there in terms of flavor. The dishes were also well sized and reasonably prices, as the total bill came out to around $40 for 4 dishes, rice, and a drink. Overall, this place is tasty, the service is very friendly and the prices are cheap--be sure to check out if you are in the area.

We were here for a wedding rehearsal lunch. The food was delicious. My favorite was probably the steak skewers with a sweet sauce. We wanted the wings, but they were sold out that day and from what I hear, they are delicious. Parking is horrible as it shares with a few other shops in the strip mall area and there were only about 15 parking spots. Otherwise you need to park in the street.

This is the place to go for delicious Thai food at a great price. It's one of our group's go-to lunch spots! The lunch deals are great and all hover around $7. Our favorites are the chicken curry lunch special (if you're looking for thai comfort food), the pad thai (highly recommend adding steamed soft tofu!), and the half chicken (huge portions but SO yummy). The panang curry and pad see-ew are also winners here! Only warning is that delivery is a bit unreliable. We've ordered a couple of times from GrubHub and while the estimates are always 20-30 minutes, it's taken up to an hour before the orders arrived at the offices (and we're right around the corner).

good food, nice service, will come back when I am near by :) My only reason to give it a 4 star instead of 5 is that their food is a little salty to my taste. But I know some like their dishes salty.

Customer service was absolutely excellent. My husband and I walked here for dinner on a Saturday evening, the parking lot is tiny so I am glad we live within walking distance. I ordered a dish that I was not digging and our waiter let me swap out the dish at no extra charge or hassle! I ended up with the chicken sate and it was fantastic! The glaze they use on the juicy chicken was spot on, drizzled with their peanut sauce it was fantastic! We will definitely be back!

If I'm ever away from LA for more than a week, there are 2 spots I must hit upon returning: Father's Office and Thai Original BBQ. Not evening joking - it's that good. I've been here more times than I can count and it's always been amazing. The BBQ Chicken and/or the short ribs are most certainly the way to go. And the sauce! Don't get me started about the sauce. I bought a jar of it from them once it's so good. Pair up your delicious meal with a $20 bottle of wine from their menu and you're golden for the night. Thai BBQ, I adore you.

I just left this place and was sorely disappointed. My son agreed to try it because I am always getting on him for not trying new things. He will never eat thai food again. He said that it was nasty. I can't agree that it was nasty, but it was flavorless. The fried rice was the worst. The meat was ok only because of the sauce. Service was good and that's why this place gets 2 stars from me. I don't know what happened. I used to really like this place. Not anymore.

  • Simon W.

My wife and I were so excited to finally find a good and affordable Thai restaurant by our place. I'd highly recommend their spicy shrimp soup - the flavors are bold and they bring it out in a bowl sitting on top of a candle to keep it warm throughout your meal. Their portions are also generous--saw my neighboring table order a plate of it which looked like a MOUNTAIN of noodle. Service is fast and friendly.

I ate at Thai Original BBQ some years ago and just recently ate there again. My bbq chicken and fried rice was pretty good...too bad it wasn't what I ordered. Shame on me for not checking my take out order when I picked it up, but language barrier or not, chicken sate doesn't sound anything like bbq chicken! If I do go back, I won't make that mistake again!

I waited 2 days for the manager to call me back after I left a message about the problem with my food. I've eaten here many times, but this is the first time I got take out. No call back from the manager, so it's time to write this review and warn others. The beef satay was still bloody and gross. My chicken rice had a piece of eyebrow or pubic hair in it! GROSS! I'm officially disgusted and never coming back. UPDATE: A worker called me back and tells me I never told her about the pubic hair in the food. Then she is claiming her english isn't good to understand me. Didn't offer me a full refund. Just blaming me and not taking the blame for their unclean restaurant. YUCK!

I've been here more than a couple times, usually on a weekday night and although the food is good (depending on what you order) the customer service makes this place kinda suck. My boyfriend and I usually order a chicken or beef entree and share the famous combination fried rice. The combination fried rice.. really good! I think that's why I keep going back. The description says its supposed to come with chicken, beef, and shrimp. We got two shrimps. 2. and I cant complain about the chicken and beef, it was in there. We ordered some ribs and they were a disaster. I kept trying to dig out the meat, the ribs didn't even resemble ribs...they were more like a gooey fatty mess. It was all fat. Once you bite onto the rib its like your chewing on pure fat and no meat. Definitely a fail. Won't be ordering that ever again. We've tried the chicken before and I gotta say this chicken is really really good. Especially with that orange sweet sauce they serve with it. Chicken slides right off the bone. Once you order your drinks don't expect anyone to come over and see if you need a refill. You either have to verbally call them over if they happen to be nearby or get up and give them your empty glass. I didn't do the latter, but I sure contemplated it. To prove a point. If you want a tip make sure you at least walk around once asking if things are alright. Anyways even though they have non existent customer service, that fried rice and chicken is worth it. Worth the small crowded parking lot and drive.

This place has the most flavorful food! From soups to entrees. You will not regret it. I've been coming here numerous times. BBQ Spare Ribs is so good here! Crispy duck was tender & crispy, combination fried rice was flavorful and the Beef Panang Curry could use a little thick texture.

Poor customer service. Ordered two entries over the phone for pick up, simply asked what soups they had and was rudely told TO SEE WHEN I GOT THERE...I thought that is why I was placing an order for pick up. Would spend $40 pre order for three...shame on me if I go back. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION...you can treat your customers like trash in the right location.

I've been eating Thai Original BBQ (at their various locations) since I was a little girl, and they're always SPOT ON. The flavors are great, and they consistently deliver good flavor for reasonable prices. All their soups are great, but the Seafood Combination soup is my favorite. The pad thai and pad see ew are delicious and flavorful -- the noodles are cooked perfectly. Their BBQ chicken is wonderful, and so are the BBQ ribs. The Kai Yang BBQ Chicken is a classic, and never disappoints. You get such a large portions in their dinner specials, and the shrimp fried rice that comes with your dinner is perfect. They have AMAZING beef panang. Perfectly spicy, complex flavor. Order it a la carte with an order of brown rice, and you're set! The Pork Spare Rib dinner is also really good -- they make the ribs tender and flavorful. The Rainbow Trout is a good option as well. The Dearest Crab "crab cakes" are good, but there really isn't that much crab in it -- they're like big pork, chicken and crab meatballs that are deep fried. Definitely satisfying, but a bit greasy. The Rama Shrimp and the Scampi a la Thai BBQ are really similar dishes -- they aren't my go-to dishes when I go here, but they definitely cook the shrimp right. Again, the Honey Duck dinner and the Crispy Duck dinner are also pretty similar, and a bit too sweet for my taste. Have some thai iced tea with your meal too -- they make that really well at the Original Thai BBQ.

Let me start by saying that I always order the pad Thai, it's delicious! The only thing I would add would be more sauce to the noodles, I usually order a side of peanut sauce to drizzle over the noodles since they tend to be dry. I have tried Natalee Thai and it's more expensive but does have the right amount of sauce. I'm more of a eat at home girl which is why I still choose Thai BBQ over NT. I will settle with adding peanut sauce to the noodles, especially for the fact that they deliver for free

The food is plain Thai food. Nothing really special, but the portion sizes are decent. They consistently mess up my eat24 delivers, and then show up at my door late asking for a tip.

This place has terrible parking....language barrier makes it hard to communicate what I want. OK enough of my bitching.... this place has great BBQ. The ribs, garlic chicken are to die for. Hot and sour soup hit the spot. Get over the parking situation and deal with the helpers and you'll love this place

this place gets a 4 star in my book! why? because every time I call in for take-out they are always ready within 15-20 minutes and they have yet to get my order wrong... hubby and I get take out here often especially lately since my preggo self has been craving their beef satay all the time. hubs always get pad Thai... food is pretty consistent so I have no complaints. :)

Meh.. There are many good Thai restaurants just on the stretch of Venice and Thai Original BBQ is just okay. My friend and I ordered takeout. For the dinner combos, note that you can't substitute the fried rice etc for other options. I wanted to get the Thai BBQ chicken but decided against it when i realized I couldn't substitute the fried rice for all salad. So instead I opted for the green beans with chicken. The dish came with a broth that contained all the flavors and was a bit on the more oily side. Make sure to dip the green beans and chicken into the broth/sauce or else the dish is very bland. I wasn't too impressed and felt that it was overall just very oily--the sauce that is--and the green beans and chicken under flavored. For the price, I would definitely suggest driving down Venice a bit more and check out Thai Boom instead. The portions there are massive and the workers very accommodating to your dietary needs.

Pad thai was the best dish that we ordered, but I've had way better. Something is up with the chicken here. My BF and I ordered spicy coconut soup with chicken and "special" Hawaiian curry with chicken. The chicken is chewy/tough/dry/rubbery=no bueno. These two dishes are pretty much the same thing, except the spicy coconut soup is sour and the Hawaiian curry is sweet. The Hawaiian curry had no hint of curry flavor and it only had pineapple and the rubbery chicken in it. I'm still looking for the best Thai food on the Westside and this definitely did not come even close to it.

I'm really not hard to please, but I will say this place is mediocre. I've been here before a long time ago and was there again today for a friend's graduation lunch. There were about 12 people. The appetizers were okay. My end of the table mostly ordered lunch specials. This came with a small salad--just a tiny plate of leaves DRENCHED in this odd yellow dressing. Ask for it on the side, just in case. I got the yellow curry lunch special with chicken. It had a couple of potato pieces in it and was a tad spicy, which I enjoyed. I did like that brown rice substitution was available... I didn't like that the meal didn't really come with vegetables. Obviously I have mixed feelings about this place--I don't usually write this incoherently! OKAY, cliff notes! Pros: lunch specials 11-3, tasty yellow curry with a lot of chicken and good potatoes if you're lucky to get some, brown rice substitution available. Cons: laggy service, no veggies with lunch specials, weird salad. I wouldn't ever choose to come here, but I'm down if folks are going. There are plenty of other Thai options in the area.

I wasn't to impressed! My husband had the BBQ chicken and I had the BBQ pork ribs. When my husband called to place the order he forgot to order Thai tea. So when I call back to add to our order no answer! I keep calling and calling and it seems like someone answers and then hang up! So I decide to keep calling, I continued to call for up to 15 min until finally someone answers I explain to her that I wanted to add to our order, she asked the name which the order is under. I tell her and she tells me "oh the driver left" long story short bad bad service!

I love their lunch specials. The pad thai and half chicken are both great. I always get extra peanut sauce because it's so good. Great service and prices.

This place is delicious!!! Fast and fresh with attentive service! Even their take-out is quick! This place is waaaaaaay more authentic than the designer Thai place (Natalee's) across the street. Thai BBQ is not fancy and it's not a place to be seen. It's a place for great Thai food.

!!!STAY AWAY! I would stay away if ordering online, I ordered through the Eat24, 15 minutes after the late estimated time of arrival I checked status, and the restaurant replied the driver is only a few minutes away, 30 minutes later no driver, contacted status again, after 15minutes waiting on hold, finally I canceled my order, horrible experience.

Guys I hate to do this!!! 1 star????? uh uh uh. Have been wanting to go to this place for years and when I finally decided to go everything went bad; to the point where we had to leave all the food on the table. It was 3 of us and over $50.00 dollars order. 1) The people here look as if they get mad when you arrive; and so unprofessional we sat ourselves at a table after waiting and no one came to offer us a table. 2) My 12 year old noticed and was following one particular server who was constantly talking on his cell phone, while delivering plates to the tables. We prayed that he wasn't going to be our server and fuazzz here he came with our plates. NOOOOOOOOO!! When I asked him why was he not attending us properly but instead he was on the phone; he slowly slide the cell phone in his pocket and told me that it was ok. because it was with his empty hand. What???????????? 3) When approached another person who looked like he was interested on what was going on and told him about it; the second guy turned around and left me talking to myself to take care of the table next to us. Without hesitation and called him back and told him that i was unhappy; he hand signed me to the door and told me that if I wanted to leave it was ok, Went to my best choice of thai food in the west so far. Had a great dinner over there. Will never intent to even give them a second chance!!

5 Stars for the fact that when I place an order for pick up 30mins to close, they package it loaded and fresh and piping hot with smiles and cheerful greetings. 5 Stars for the BEST Pad Kee Mow/Drunken Noodle in west LA. 3 stars for average pad thai 3 stars for below average thom kha (ordered it extra spicy) but their Pad Kee Mow?!!!! ommggggg, seriously...i will only order that from here from now on. where do i begin: -- their peppers are hand cut and FRESH, literally SO SO fresh. always just the right amount of crispy and not over cooked!! the portion size is RIDICULOUS. I think I ate it three times before actually finishing it and let me tell you, as a 5' girl I can out eat my 6' boyfriend, so portion size is crucial to me! this is the first time...in the history of ever... that I have ordered Pad Kee Mow and actually felt that it was spicy! I'm a fan of overbearingly spicy foods, and their Pad Kee Mow...the way it is served, is already spicy to perfection!!!!! seriously I cannot rave about their drunken noodles anymore. After having their Pad Kee Mow for the first time, I no joke ordered it again the next day. oh and if you order delivery, they are fast and actually make an effort to deliver it to your door!!! i live in a complicated apartment complex and the guy literally walked around my building to deliver it right to me!! these guys are my new fav. oh ANDDDDD reasonable if not cheap prices considering portion size.

Been here loads is times. Very good. Large portions so a soup dish and a plate is a good combo to share for two. I always get either the scampi shrimp, Rama shrimp or the drunken noodles with shrimp. All very good. The spicy coconut soup is my favorite.

We love Thai and are always looking to find the next good Thai restaurant. This place is across Natalie Thai. This is very basic Thai you are only going to this place because of the food. The environment is left behind from the 80's. Nevertheless its not really a date place. The service is generally good but the food is really good. The BBQ chicken is very good the crab fried rice I could have passed on and the pad see ewe was above average. I would definitely come back for the BBQ chicken. The key is to order 2 dishes and add another one if you're still hungry. On another plus side they did offer Sake.

Decent Thai food. Good service. I ordered take out tonight--took about 20 minutes before it was ready. When I picked it up, it was nicely packaged and the staff was super friendly and one of the waiters even cracked a funny joke. Parking was ok though the parking lot is a little tight. Not too many parking spots, but ANY sort of parking in LA is a big deal. The place is dimly lit with a nice fish tank that divides the room into two. There were a few people dining inside and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Below is a review of the food itself: 1. Drunken Noodles: flat rice noodles stir-fried with soy sauce, broccoli, chicken, bell peppers--it was decent, not really a unique flavor, though it was a bit spicy and that was a nice surprise. The noodles were a little dry for my taste, but that might be because when you get take out, the noodles sitting in the container soaks up the sauce. 2. Pad Thai: thinner flat rice noodles with chicken, bean sprouts, and peanuts--this too was OK. I've definitely had better pad thai in Fullerton of all places! It was a little dry and many of the noodles were stuck together. Again, the dryness could be because of the take out and the noodles soaking up the sauce....that being said, the flavor was a little bland. I had to add my own squeeze of lime--something that I think all pad thai should come with. 3. Tofu Delight: Large triangles of fried tofu with mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, baby corn, and onions. It was just ok too, the sauce was nice, the vegetables were nicely cooked, but it didn't really wow me. 4. Chicken/beef satay: both tasted fine, a little difficult to get off the skewer. To be honest, if I closed my eyes, I probably would not be able to tell if I was eating chicken or beef. It really tasted about the same with the same texture. Overall, I think the food was decent, it really didn't wow me. I probably wouldn't think of this place if I was craving Thai food, though if I wanted some Thai close to me, I might go here again. The amount of food was HUGE though for take-out and I definitely have quite a bit of leftovers.

I ordered the Pad See Ew and the Golden Tofu to go when I had walked over to this place on my lunch. A couple of my coworkers were gushing about how great this place was and that I would love it. I am not impressed. There wasn't anything that really stood out to me in regards to the menu and service. When I had first stepped in the doorway, the waitresses looked at me like I was a wet dog or something. They asked me "how many people", and I just let them know that it was just me and that I was going to be taking out. They had this look of irritation that I would be a "small order". While sitting on the side row of chairs as if on display, a table near me was talking to each other and looking around irritated. A couple of the people there had been watching the other table mates consume their meals while theirs seemed to be lost in the abyss in the kitchen. Normally, food should be brought out at the same time for tables, but this observation assured me that this place wasn't going to be like that and threw up some warning signs for me. Wraping up my trip here, as I had mentioned before, this is just a typical Thai restaurant and there really isn't anything special. I may or may not come back...it just wouldn't be my first pick.

Thai BBQ is our hidden gem. It keeps it's low profile thanks to the over crowded Nathaly Thai across the street. We go to Thai BBQ and usually order the pad thee, combination sate, and spring rolls. We also order the Thai iced tea. Yum! I usually only get the chicken sate, but this time I tried something different and it was well worth it! The beef sate was amazing! We are always seated immediately. The location is clean, calm, and has various fish tanks through out. At the end they always bring you a tossable toilette, and the best little fruit candy. If you're tired of the over crowded, other Thai restaurants, Thai BBQ is a great place to try.

Surprisingly good for this price point. It's on my short list for a quick Thai meal. Try the coconut-based soups. Yummy.

**CHICKEN CHEAP EATS FOR LUNCH - UNDER $10** PARKING ======= It's a small lot. Packed at lunch. Good luck. ATMOSPHERE =========== Not fancy, plenty of room to sit down. Good for groups. SERVICE ======= Almost sub-par due to us having to wave frantically for service. They couldn't replace vegetables with rice and they had no more brown rice. Really?! How long have you been in business to realize that you ran out of brown rice during a busy lunch hour? FOOD ===== Lunch specials are real deals here. ORDERED: BBQ CHICKEN ($7.25) Came with a very bland salad and some generic tasting yellow mustard sauce. It was not appealing. The chicken (came in 4 pieces) were generous and tasty. There was a dipping sauce (way too sweet) and you can opt for rice. The pieces were succulent EXCEPT for the breast. A tad DRY. OTHER NOTES ============= One of our group members ordered the S1 (BBQ chicken dinner size) instead of the lunch special. They explained to us the only difference between the lunch and dinner was not the portion of the chicken, but the portion of the rice. Umm, really. Not worth it, stick to the lunch special. OVERALL ======== Didn't love it, didn't hate it. But shiieeet, for a $10 and under lunch, not going to complain . . . well, ok, maybe just a little.

This is in regards to a delivery order. Called in and placed an order. Gave my address and confirmed they can deliver. They said np and the order would be delivered in 1 hr. Get a call after 55 mins, asking me to reconfirm my address. After providing it, they said they will be there in 10 mins. 10 mins later they call me to tell me the address is too far to deliver . Ended up driving to pick up the order myself, sharing half warm, soggy food at home. Great way to kill 1.5 hr in the evening.

I love Thai BBQ. We order delivery from here about once a week, and my favorite is the food always arriving in 15 when they quote 45. Always get beef pad see ew, love the shrimp fried rice, yellow curry, and pad thai. Yum!

I am shocked with the customer service at Thai Original BBQ restaurant. Me and my husband were excitied to order some nice thai curry and have a quiet evening at home. Based on the reviews online we placed an order with Thai Original BBQ Restaurant. Only after we did placed the order we were notified online that the waiting time is at least 50 minutes. We called the restaurant and this is where the real experience started. I was told by a female in very rude and abrupt manner that the waiting time is at least 50 minutes, she asked what was the point of me calling and then hung up on me. I was in shock, so I called back to cancel my order. She said that I have to go back online to cancel my order with Eat24. I asked if she knows the phone number for them but this time she just laughed and then hung up again. I was my entire life around hospitality industry but I have never experience such a poor and outrageous, customer service. I just don't understand why would you treat a customer like an enemy?! I love thai food and during my travels in south east Asia I would dine in a very basic restaurants, pay couple of dollars for a meal and receive far better service. First impressions are lasting impressions and I won't be ordering from here again.

I used to live in this neighborhood and would occasionally get their BBQ which is just *okay*. I came back recently with a girlfriend and had their lunch special. it is packed during the week lunch rush so be prepared to wait. Their pad thai was delicious! I think I will be giving this place another go.

Yum Tom Soup is definitely something I get here. So good!!! Love all the flavors in it. The specials are a great deal. Plenty of food. Tasty. Much better than Natalee Thai across the street. I usually get the Rib special with their rice. You definitely have to get their FBI if they have it. Fried Banana Ice Cream. But most of the time I'm so full to even get it. LOL

My first Original Thai BBQ was the one in E-Ho, and it was, as someone else has said, the standard by which I have judged Thai food ever since. I have been eating at the CC location for about 14 years. At first all was well. But over the past 2-3 years the service has changed and so has the quality of the food. Several times the beef sate used poor quality beef - stringy and tough. I've had to toss 1 or 2 entire skewers because they were inedible. Service varies from ok to meh to just bad, on any given day. You never know which it might be. Extra peanut sauce used to be free, now there is a charge for it - and the "free" amount is tiny (and watered down compared to other restaurants' peanut sauce), so yeah, you're going to need extra. Parking does suck. A bunch of little things like this mean I no longer look forward to meals here, and don't go any more. I don't feel that this location is a good representation of the other restaurants in the chain. Try the one on Western or the one in Thai Town.
